Theorycrafting #3: Riven

I used to play a ton of Riven mid back in season 3 when she was played pretty often. I stomped mid with Riven's damage and mobility over and over, but eventually other AD assassins rose to power and people started to figure out how to counter her.

The thing is Huni and Faker both recently played Riven in high stakes pro games so I'm thinking that maybe we'll see Riven in Worlds?

Do you guys have any thoughts? This idea just came up because I read that Riven article and realized that the combo and build used in the article was basically what pros used. The damage calculated is insane and pretty accurate from what I've checked.

Thoughts on Riven in the pro scene? Thoughts on Riven mid in soloQ?

I watched that entire game. If anything, it proved that Riven played at the highest level is squishy against composed teams. She's an amazing lane bully and a very scary duelist, but in the entire game nobody fought him 1v1 until the very end.

If Faker had been playing Ahri, Zed, or any mid laner that doesn't rely on short gap closers to do melee damage I think the game would have ended much faster.

Playing Riven all he could do was jump in and all-in a single person with ult, he spent most of the game dancing around skillshots and disengaging.
