Diversifying the champ pool

Came up with a couple of ideas with some friends to help widen the champ pool:

Option 1: We (in pro-play and in casual play) are always seeing the same handful of champs every game, despite ban phase. Instead of just having 'free rotation champs' come through every week, why not have champions that are "banned" from the pool (except for aram) as well? Say 30 or so champs, that'd be 20% of the champion pool. It would diversify champ selection across the board. It would get rid of the OTPs and force people to play and learn other champions and make games that much more interesting.

Option 2: Give 2 bans per person during ban phase. 20 bans total removing 13% of the champions still forcing people to move outside their comfort zone and play and try new things. Still broadening the pool.

Either way would make the game more interesting instead of seeing the same champs, despite bans, over and over again.

Far as I know you need 16 champs just to be able to play ranked. (unless thats been changed)

Both of your options will make it difficult for people who have not been around awhile or are starting new accounts even if they have been playing for years to play ranked. Pretty much forcing them to pay for more champs. In your 1st option a person will need about 46 champs just to be able to play ranked just in case 30 of the champs they own are banned.

Also as far as "try new things" both your options could force people into playing champs they do not play in ranked just because most of the champs they own are banned. And im pretty sure no one likes it when they have people on their team playing champs they dont know how to play.

That idea would only work if you assume everyone owns all the champs.

Diversity is bad for the game, so no thanks
