Jungling with tanks

Hey guys, I am new to League (Level 16) and I am into Jungling, apart from support and ADC. I want to know which champions are good to jungle with considering the following scenario:

  1. My team is not tanky (if there is a word like this :P), everyone is playing an ADC or assassin in low tier games. Thus, I would prefer to be a tanky Jungler.
  2. I like mobility and high attack power, since I want to assist team mates.
  3. Difficulty of the champion is not an issue, I don't mind failing initially.

If you guys can provide any assistance on this it would be great.

P. S. I have been playing with warwick since he is cheap and I like his life steal a lot. And I think I am good at it since my gold is generally more than my entire team. So I don't mind starting with something more challenging and rewarding.

you could try ramus(free week this week) and see were that gets you, but jungling with him may need some runes to jungle well with him, but is still possible. q has a good amount of mobility for ganks or clearing the camps faster (q after clearing a camp to get to a close one near by). He has a taunt (e) that 1.25-2.25 sec so they are locked up near you, and w makes him tankier with 40-120 more armor and magic resist and damages the enemy every basic attack based on your armor and the rank the skill is. The ult is good for aoe damage for when a you need the extra damage in a fight you are about to go into. Just a tip, even though it says you can use e on a monster, I don't recommend it because it tends to be a waist of mana.

  1. Squishy.
  2. You want a fighter.
  3. Fighters aren't difficult.

Try Jungle Jax. Rush Devourer then build some combination of CDR Tank items like Frozen Heart and Spirit Visage to get to 40% CDR. His base damage is already ridiculous and multiplied by Devourer, and once you get to that 40% CDR, he becomes surprisingly mobile with his 3.6 second leap.

Jax clears relatively fine thanks to his E defending him. A simple E->Q->E makes for solid ganks. You can also build him in a lifesteal heavy way that takes advantage of his high resistances.

Tanky Junglers with good damage: Amumu Gragas Malphite Maokai RekSai Sejuani Shyvana Skarner Vi Volibear

You can build Cinderhulk on any of these champions. I personally enjoy Malphite, his build is very flexible with what you need whether it be tankiness or a bit of extra damage. And his ult is just too fun.

He is not really a true tank but I like XinZhao . You can get a single AD damage either item 3153 or item 3074 and the rest being tanky items and you would be set. Thanks to his ultimate he can become pretty unkillable while having mobility towards enemies (E is a point and cick dash towards enemies)

He is also an early-mid game base champions and such his ganks are quites scary and can snowballl prettty hard.

You might also look at Jarvan IV (JarvanIV). Can be built tanky and has a shield to help him survive in fights, good mobility with the E-Q combo, and does a pretty good amount of damage because of his passive.

Nautilus. Without a doubt. Maxing your E gives you surprisingly good damage, and you have so much CC that you don't even need the damage to gank. He's somewhat tough to get the hang of, but he's not really difficult.

Nunu Udyr Nautilus are all great junglers who can build very tanky.

I don't know if Pantheon is still played in the jungle, but he seems to be something you might like.

If you don't have adequate runes, I honestly wouldn't jungle with anyone besides Warwick starting out. It is really tough getting through the jungle without them. I would wait at least until lvl21 as you can get tier3 runes with enough slots for armor to make a good jungle clear. Some junglers can make it through without some armor and ad/as/ap, but they will really struggle with clearing safely or efficiently. It can be done, but I wouldn't really recommend it. Start saving up for runes while you are playing though as they will really help you once you can get the good ones (post lvl20). Peace.

nunu is another jungler and has much faster clear times

he can either farm his own jungle (or he can farm the opponents' as he should)

nunu's a good choice for tank

warwick is a good choice for a tanky assassin

xin has a much higher skill floor but I also don't like the jungle that much

Maokai, Gragas, and Sejuani are your best picks for mobile tanks if your team is really lacking on the defensive front.

udyr's my favorite jungler right now, i've been jungling since season 0. he fits all the categories you listed. his pheonix build with sated and tank items is really strong. once you get tanky enough in teammfights people tend to ignore you and ignoring sated udyr is a very bad idea.

he's got really good counter engage, not the best initiation though. he has no dashes and only a speed boost, but he can stun multiple people in quick succession with bear stance, which usually disrupts an enemy team's attack and gives your team the chance to set up their counters. I think Stonewall back in his original jungle videos named Udyr the 'king of the jungle'. Not sure if that would still be true, but I've been having success playing him. There's a big difference between a mediocre udyr and a good udyr.
