How to Counter Roaming

I've noticed that in my games people get mad when people roam and get kills. For example, the enemy mid/top laner will go bot and get a double kill. Then bot lane will start to get mad and rage. Coming from me who mains adc and mid, its leaves a facepalm on my face for the rest of the game. I thought of a way that will let you counter roaming. You might be saying "WHAT, NO WAY, WOW , OMG, COOL STORY BRO 1v1 me fgt" This is how its done

  1. If your lane opponent starts roaming. Dont go after them, PUSH YOUR TURRET This is especially goes goes for you if your mid and playing a strong pusher. Get the turret or work that turret. if your jg comes to help you, you might even be able to get two turrets. Now this leaves space for you to go roam other lanes and help push other lanes and get dragons
  2. GET WARDS if your at botlane, and you have wards that allow you to see that enemy katarina or fizz coming to your lane, you can stop overextending and stop them from getting an easy double. If your low, back cause if you stay theyll get tower, AND two kills. ( not to mention a potential drag) Uhhh thats all i have for now. Dont have to listen to me cause Im just a silver 3 sooo uhh chose who u open ur ears to (im trying to make famous quotes. dnt hate) Any suggestions, criticisms, or comments or welcome (not really i'll prolly get salty) If your high elo, then you can laugh at my ignorance and keep going through the forums Bye

Your options are basically to follow them (unless they're strong enough to cheese you, because some champs just pretend to roam and sit in the bush to cheese), push turret, or gank the other side lane. Always make damn sure your botlane knows the mid is coming so they get under tower.

I do this a lot on annie against Vel or lux. Act like i roam bot they come down to counter and then booom!!! Free kill, Back to lane.

Yeah, I play xerath a lot, so I never follow roams, b/c I'm always sure they are going to be waiting in the brush for an easy kill, and honestly, on a champ like xer, I'm often too terrified (against assassins) to even properly push tower, so I'll usually just try to shove a wave or two until I'm sure they aren't about to self-gank our lane.

You're absolutely right. Sadly such simple information like this is always missed by many players. It's small subtle things like this that can really improve a player and help the team overall.

Thats what you're supposed to do.

If you can't counter the roam then push in as hard as you can.

Plus if you know their mid champion or what have you has a high potential to roam then get a get pink in your jungle so you can watch when they try to roam that side.

Look at your minimap every few seconds no matter what lane you are or whether or not you're overextended. Don't rely on your teammates to ping MIA; if any enemy is missing, ping 'Missing' twice on the lanes that are halfway down their lane or further, then on the lane that is 'Missing' so they know that the enemy may be roaming their way down / up.

It's saved my bot lane countless times when they realize "Oh shit, Fizz left lane at full health about fifteen seconds ago and they're going aggro on their side of the lane."

Ive gotten into the habit of not blaming teammates for me dying from their roams and their lack of MIAs. As a result i look at the map a alot and can make crucial decisions based on the map.

  • Enemy Jungle is top lane. Time to take their blue/red, get bot/mid tower, and get dragon I mean but im still not that good so? k?

And I don't blame you for saying that. But the truth is common information like this in my elo (silver 3) is surprisingly overlooked alot. But i maybe its just in low elo. I mean i kinda dont play ranked and have like over 900 norm wins so i have a decent amount of knowledge on this game. idk i still feed on half of my games :p (except ranked)

I push, but the tower is so tanky I cant blow it up by the time the other laner gets back.

Sometimes you can get ready for them to roam. They will start pushing agressively, if they disappear you should push back as much as you can with a spell rotation then go after them while pinging. If you manage to stop their initial push they might lose from roaming.

you don't have to kill it, just getting a good amount of damage on it is worthwhile because it means their tower will fall first.

Yea, people in Silver really need to read this. Too many times have I seen them either; 1. Freeze the lane, or 2. Follow them, and usually accomplish nothing.

Pro support tip: BUY A FUCKING PINK WARD and put it in the tribush. Then use Sightstone to keep the river bush warded at all times. There is no excuse for their mid popping out of the river and surprising you.

I don't play alot of support, but im not dumb enough to not buy a pink. Hell even as adc ill still get a pink.

Sorry, this wasn't addressed to you (you look like you know what you're doing, may you climb far), but to the supports that can't figure out how to ward or how to notice that mid is mia even though mid didn't ping (or they just missed it, or whatever. MIA ping is good to have, but it's a person's own fault if they get ganked out of position).

Far too many supports in Bronze don't understand the concept of warding, and then act like it's somebody else's fault that bad things happen because nothing is warded.

hell a item 2043 in a river bush is usually enough since surprisingly not many people check for it.

The pink ward in that river bush is a good answer for bottom lane, usually the jungler or mid should consider it if bottom is too behind. The ward can be placed in such a way in the small bush that a champion entering the bush from a certain direction walks over it and blocks it with their body so as to be less likely to notice it by the time they exit the bush. *This is big this is how you can get out of silver or at least it's good practice that will pay off as part of a bag of tricks.

Also, vision isn't everything. Opportunities not taken aren't rewarded and it's as simple as that when it comes to map control.

The easiest way is to simply use vision to collapse on the roamer or choose another roaming champion.

I main Nasus and Singed TP top because those two can die all they want, TP in whatever lane the enemy roamer is at and kill him, kill the laners at the lane he is in and push free turret.

Hate to brake it to you but #1 takes courage to do and most of the stockholms in the game fall on the floor in the fetal position and have a seizure if you tell them to push mid turret while their opponent is ganking bot. Also I've found that the jung is more than happy to help you clear those minis but as soon as it's time to hit the turret he leaves cause he might get 20 less gold for taking that turret than farming his jung, and despite how much it might help the team "screw the team I'm here to jung carry".

So yea it's great in theory and would work great on a team, but in solo queue... it just never happens.

Sit in a bush and wait for them to come back and kill then. At this point they lose 2-3x more if they fail roam.

How to counter roaming? Vision, pinging MIA, following your enemy laner if you can 1v1 them and know where the jungler is, or push your lane. If you do your part, and your team didn't listen to your pings, that's their fault and you do your best.

Pretty much what you said. And in addition to pinging mia ping DANGER, CAREFUL on top of them. theyll listen then :3
