Ranked game adjustment, no more slackers

We all have had it, people who doesn't care about winning the game or not, inexperience people who think they can just jump into rank and they just can't contribute to the game. The result is people who are trying aren't progressing as they should be and this is an on going issue that probably been happening for years.

I am not sure why Riot hasn't came up with anything to fix this yet but they got time for making skins for sale. The way I see it is if you aren't progressing in rank as you should be, you'd spend more time playing the game and that definitely benefit Riot. This is a cancer of league society, a ripple effect. People take on bad behaviour because they simply don't care anymore after being effected by these players.

Time and time I'd send a report of trolls players and only once I have received a message saying something was done about that player, that 1 out of 100s that I have reported. Now let's talk about inexperience players, the unranked ones.

I have tweeted Riot game support before about these unranked players who would be in a placement but clearly they are not ready. If they are making a little mistake here and there that is normal but most of them have no idea what they are doing in ranked game and think it's the same as normal game and what do they say ? "I'm just here to have fun" "Its just a game guys" ... Such poor excuse.

There are many resources you can take to improve your gameplay like online guides and video tutorial. Another thing is knowing champions and their abilities but yet a lot of newbies doesn't take time to look into it. This results in a lost for most of the time.

Now I have an idea to sort out these newbies. Increase the requirement to get in ranked game. Weather it would be the amount of games they have played, it would be better if its the amount of games they have won. Have some sort of seperate game for them.

One thing I want to know is how an unranked player get place in a ranked match. I know that the ranked players get match by their MMR but what are you judging the unranked ones by ? Clearly from experience it doesn't work out as it ruins the game for the others.

Now let's talk about the "it's just a game/I'm just here for fun" losing us the game players. Everything I mention this topic to Riot they always say, just report them. So I have to ask you guys as well to report the trolls. Beside that there need to be a system to sort it out, preferably in game system. Now I understand that there won't be any live/gameplay mornitoring as it would cost money and why would Riot do that right ?

Anyway in summary those people who aren't ready for ranked game and those one who doesn't care about it shouldn't be playing in ranked and should be fenced off. If anything I have mentioned is a false information or am I wrong in anyway please let me know as I'd like to expand my knowledge. Thank you.

You think removing the worst players from ranked would make your rank improve?

News flash. You are ranked on your skill level in comparison to the rest of the players in the ranked ladder. If everybody who was worse than you was removed from the ranked ladder, you would become the new Bronze 5.

Restrictions probably wouldn't do anything other than cause players to lose interest in the game. It sounds like a good idea in theory, but if it's just slapping on play X number of games to play ranked or win Y number of games to play ranked, then what is that really doing? It teaches them nothing and if they do meet the criteria to finally play ranked, then they just stick to their old bad habits they've used, and we're in the same scenario we're in currently.

What needs to happen is there needs to be something that actually teaches players before they get into ranked. At this point it's also good to point out that there will always be people in ranked that don't know what the hell they're doing, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. Anyways, if they did something like a weekly spotlight of a community creator that taught players about something in the game (jungling, CSing, splitpushing, objectives, teamfighting, warding, itemization, etc.) then it would not only increase the creator's reach on youtube (effectively increasing the advertisement of the game), but also teaches players who are interested in learning how to get better and win more (increasing the game knowledge of lower elos).

As for the people who say "It's just a game," they're technically right, it is just a game. On the other hand it is a competitive game, and it's wrong to simply dismiss the want to win for your own enjoyment. Some might say it in an attempt to get a teammate(s) to calm down when they're raging, which is sadly a mistake simply due to how it is received and effectively increases the anger in that teammate, others do it simply because they aren't the competitive type and just see/understand that losing is part of the game, so you might as well have fun when it happens. There are obviously trolls who use the phrase too, but what don't they use to piss off people?

I'd like to make two observations on that perspective:

  • Sorting out who wants to be victorious is a big part of combat.
  • Looks like some cross-talk between notions of levelling up a character and placement in a competitive peer group.
