[Champion Concept] Remi of the Lake
Remi of the Lake revealed.
by Jack
Let it rain and hope that the enemies don't just start dancing as Remi of the lake. Tagged along by nature and destroying any sense of direction your enemies once had, Remi is a fighter like no other.
#Abilities
Passive : Rage of the Rain.
After a certain amount of spellcasts Remi summons rain around herself on her next attack against an enemy Champion or monster. On spawn, any enemy within the rain gains a stack of Terror, which can be proced to make enemies flee from Remi in terror for a short duration. Enemies inside the rain are also dealt damage every second and have reduced vision.
Q : Dragged to the deep.
Remi summons a pool of water at a target location. Enemies inside are slowed. Enemies walking away from the center are slowed even more. Additionally Rage of the Rain deals extra damage against enemies inside.
W : Force of Nature.
Remi spawns an inpassable Ent at a target location, that lashes in Remis direction as it spawns, knocking back all enemies hit and applying a stack of Terror. Afterwards it lets out a terrifying cry in cone, that deals bonus damage and procs Terror on any enemy hit.
Then is disappears again. The Ent is not targetable and cannot move, but it always faces Remi's direction.
E : Torn Soul
Remi passivly deals bonus damage and heals herself on-hit. Remi can activate this ability to send an afterimage of herself in a straight line, that damages enemies hit and procs any Terror stack. The afterimage deals less damage each time it hits an enemy, and its size depends on Remi's size.
R : Awaken the Lake
Remi passively gains bonus movement- and attackspeed when she is within the Area of Dragged to the Deep. On activation Remi engulfs herself in water and vines and gains bonus size and health. Additionally she gains increased attack and spell range.
#Gameplay
Jungle
Remi is a melee fighter, that has a massive amount of long-ranged CC, which enables for intensive ganks. However this comes in cost of high mana-cost abilities with long cooldowns and no actual pre-six mobility. When ganking enemies as Jungler, try slowing them with your Dragged to the Deep to get close enough to activate your Force of Nature. If the enemy should be hit by the quick animation of the Ent when spawning, but be fast enough to escape its cry, use your Torn Soul to still proc the Terror mark. Note that enemies in terror flee from Remi, so try positioning yourself sideways or diagonally. If the enemy uses his or her escape ability, for example Flash, on sight, wait a while and ask your laner to only last-hit. Then gank when the enemy feels safe again. However Remi still isn't very mobile, so consider buying Boots of Mobility, Boots of Swiftness or an early Shurelya's Reverie, maybe even consider taking the Summoner Spell Ghost. As Jungler take a point in Torn Soul first. If you use it once or twice in the Fountain, and then again before any fighting happens, you can charge up your Rage of the Rain. Then you can defend yourself better in an early teamfight, via applying Terror through Rain and procing it with your Torn Soul, and still have enough damage to kill the Ancient Golem, if something goes wrong. Also, Torn Soul offers the most raw damage early on, due to its low cooldown and high base stats.
Remi has high mana costs on her abilities. Consider buying items that grant mana or mana-regeneration. Or ask your Mage/Fighter to take a champion, that doesn't need the Crest of the Ancient Golem, to avoid fights within your own team.
Bot Lane
Remi can be played on the bottom lane as well, depending on her team-comp. However she does not offer any buffs or heals for her Marksman.
Teamfights
I recommend buying cooldownreduction-granting items on Remi, because her skillset offers massive CC. In teamfights you want to focus on your Dragged to the deep ability. Try using your Terror procs and your Ent to confine enemies within it, because you gain massive mobility and increased damage inside. Try applying presence-pressure on your enemies. When Remi activates her Awaken the Lake she gains additional size as well. Combined with her slows, which can be more fearsome and annoying then any other form of Crowd Control, her enemies will lose their sense of direction and try fleeing from her, even when Terror is not proced. This way Remi can help her team deal tons of damage, while the enemies offer little resistance.
#Story
Remi was a calm child, but had always found herself to be cursed. Being followed by misery and irony throughout her life, she already thought so when she was a little girl. But she was right, for she was haunted by what she most despised. Remi had lived long before the league, long before any of the so called ancient cultures. Her people had been the first, the first to find it, to study it, to obtain its power and abuse it, to be so obsessed with it so much, that they were driven to insanity - MAGIC. She despised the men, that threw away their humanity for wisdom. The irony , though, was that of all the mad men and all of the scholars, she, little girl Remi, understood magic best. She had no particular talent for magic, nor was her own actual magical power all to strong, but unlike any other to her time, she understood magic too its very core. She grew up in conflict with herself. Her job was to study magic, its efficiency and its possible uses in society, but also its destructive power. She hated every second of it, but she could not stop. One side of her was the calm, naive child, that loved the mystery of magic, the other was a mad man, who was exploiting and abusing the magics secrets, just the person she had hated most. Ever so slowly, day for day, she kept on feeding her inner scientist, she could not feed her other side, there was no way of going back to being a child, so there was also no reason to stop her work. It took a while, but one day she had finally made use of her knowledge and she destroyed an hostile city by turning the trees of an neighboring forest into monsters. It was efficient, since there was no need for troops and since the enemies had no way of defending themselves. The trees devoured the helpless citizens and it was only after it had been done, that Remi realized the full extent of her actions. She had become even worse then the mad men. She had made their twisted dreams reality. Now knowing what she had become she rejected her madness and swore redemption, so she quietly walked herself to the bottom of a lake and with her she took the monsters, that had once been peaceful trees. And once she reached the bottom, she lied down, and she slept, and in her sleep the madness was consumed by the soothing water, and the brutality of the trees was consumed by her children soul. And she slept, and the nature slept with her, until she could not sleep no more. When she woke up, she was suddenly a child again and she couldn't remember her past too well. The old Remi had split her soul in half and Nature had made her whole again. When she looked around, she saw the once peaceful isles were no more. The nature here had slept too long and allowed death to gather. But what had really disturbed her most, was a tree, walking, awakened by what could only be a fiend. Suddenly she felt nothing but rage. It started to rain and the rain awakened the sleeping forest and gave form to her rage. The new found life whispered to her. Whispered of the league, that had created such misery. She had to go there and make sure something like that would never happen again. And if she had to make the whole world flood with rain. Nobody would abuse magic in such a way again.
Hey guys,
I tried making this thread look like an original Riot Post, but sadly there is only so much I can do without Pictures and with a set of rules writing here ( Spacebars are futile. Riot want words to stand next to each other. )
Nevertheless I hope you like this concept. I purposely left out numbers, because we can't actually know, what would be overpowered or broken.
If you are interested, though,
her passive would either be magic or true damage and scale with AP,
her Q wouldn't scale at all
her W, the Ent smack would scale with both AP and AD and deal physical damage, the cry would scale with only AP and deal magical,
her E, the bonus damage and active would be magical, scaling with AP, the heal would have something to do with maximum or missing health (like 2 + 1 per 100 Ap on-hit increasing by 1% per 1% missing health)
and her R would scale with AP, as well.
As a goodie I have a picture I drew of her in her Ultimate form, when she herself is an Ent.
Sadly, my scanner isn't big enough, so a photo(s) will have to suffice. I hope you can see it clearly ...
P.S. Please, tell me if you find any tipos. Thanks !
Onslaught of Shadows. I wonder if she could be combined with Irish folklore of the Leprichan, who is not the happy go-lucky man in green we like to paint them out to be. I like the usage of water in her kit, and I feel that the ties to a Dryad destroy her theme of rain and water. I'd imagine it'd be really cool if you specialized her as a jungler, top, or support. Right now she could really be anything based on ratios and artwork. I would suggest going more of a support role with her, but I wouldn't use the passive you provided. Rage of the Rain would be really cool if her autoattacks every few seconds would proc an AoE rain storm in a short radius around her, healing allies within it. Dragged to the Deep would be amazing if it was like a puddle- rippling outwards if an enemy steps in it. The first enemy that steps within the puddle would cause the water to follow them and ripple out with every step. The ripples could do magic damage and slow enemies that it hits, with reduced slows and damage for more than one hit. I'd like to note her AP ratios would not be fantastic, because those two things by themselves make her a Zyra/Sona type hybrid. I don't like turning her into a Dyrad and I would encourage staying with the rain theme. An idea for her W is "Water Spout," which would create a water tornado that would provide Remi with a speed buff. Her E could stay as Torn Soul, which would send out a non-stealth reveling ripple that would mark a visible champion with a mark of Panic. Panic would detonate for a short fear if struck with any other of Remi's abilities. Remi's current ultimate sounds way too much like a Renekton, Nasus, Lulu... et cetera ultimate. What would classify her as a jungler, support, or a mid is what you'd choose to do with Awaken the Lake. Awaken the Lake could send Remi into a frenzied state, causing all abilities to do bonus effects. It could also be a nuke that causes a lake to spawn at a target location, slowing enemies and burning for damage as they drown. A final idea would be a dash that would spawn a damaging maelstrom at the location for a few seconds.
All of these are just ideas of mine, take them or leave them. I really hope you post a few more drawings, particularly of abilities! Best of luck getting Riot's attention comrade.
