League of Legends Survey | Wooster

Hey guys, I’m a senior Communication Studies major at the College of Wooster in Ohio. In order to graduate I need to do a research project. For my study, I’m analyzing the *motivations *players have for playing League of Legends! I’m turning my greatest hobby into an actual scholarly study, it is super sweet. It would be extremely helpful if you would take the survey I have prepared for my study.

**You do have to be at least 18 years of age in order to complete this survey. **

The more people I get to take this, the more representative my data will be, so please tell your friends to take this as well. Once I finish my study and write my report, I will do a follow-up post about my findings and conclusions so that you all can see what I was able to do with your help! If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please email me at . And thank you for your help!

It will take a maximum of 5 min to complete! *edit: I know that it may seem long to complete, but the progress bar at the bottom lies- so don't look at that. Also thanks for sticking with it, it really means a lot to me that you all are willing to help!

Did the survey, but I wanted to add a note.

When picking favorite game mode, you forgot to add ARAM. Dominion is in there, bots are in there, but ARAM isn't.

Some of the questions seem extremely redundant.

The first page reiterates basically the same question 4 times by asking you if you find the game entertaining, fun, etc...

Done and done. Good luck with your studies.

This actually seems like a really great idea... Using League for school projects... Sorry, I'm not 18 yet... Otherwise, I totally would've taken this :P

That's one of the longest surveys I had in a while :P

stop making the questions blur together. Make a better survery. Seriously its like im answering the same thing with different words....

And half these questions seem like they're geared towards normal playing casuals. Instead of someone who wants to improve and only play ranked.

I found Wooster to be very annoying. They kept trying to recruit for football even though I told them that I wasn't going there since they didn't have a pharmacy program.

I don't mean to sound rude, but I tried to do this survey and just couldn't. I got 5 pages in, realized I had made little progress while answering questions that sounded either too similar or too in-depth, and stopped. I wanted to complete it, but as a friendly tip I offer this. I'm usually someone who does surveys (even to companies) as I feel the feedback is nice. But keep in mind that too many questions, too in-depth questions, and a bad layout (the last one I know isn't your fault) prevent people from wanting to complete it. Just keep it in mind on your next survey if you have one.

"On average, we discovered that respondents take just over a minute to answer the first question in a survey (including the time spent reading any survey introductions) and spend about 5 minutes in total, answering a 10 question survey. However, respondents take more time per question when responding to shorter surveys compared to longer surveys" -SurveyMonkey website based off research 10,000 surveys varying of 1-30 questions.

Good luck in your studies. Always nice to see people try to show the world that video games aren't "nerdy", but just as viable a source as music and film.

Completed survey, I'd like to add that I like league for many reasons been a gamer for year and playing league since I had a pc, but the main draw of playing league is my friends. I have many friends that have moved far away over the years that league and pc gaming in general has allowed me to stay connected to or recconect when I find out that friend I haven't heard from in a couple years is on league too! The list keeps growing! One of my friends had moved from sc to ny and we have stayed connected through league for about a year and when he came down for Christmas it was like he never left! It's strange how connected technology allows us to be nowadays! And the goodbye was strange as well "take it easy man, good luck with the ride up there." "But I'll we you on curse tomorrow XD WTF is this world we live in! I love it! XD 1000 miles away and it doesn't even feel like it! Another friend is in Washington and moved midway through high school! As well as many oter friends local or an hour or two away. We are able to hangout virtually and if it wasn't for that I would have quit league by now because it's addicting and I'd feel like I was wasting my time :p I know I could have a more productive hobby. But it's more than gaming for me, it's socializing, creating memories with my friends.
