[Fan Fiction] Reign of the Glorious Evolution (part 1)
What constitutes the start of a war? Some may argue that all wars spawn from religion, others may argue that its resources. When it comes down to it, wars occur because there is a difference between two beings, and it is natural that these two beings fight to see who is superior in their design. It has happened all throughout history, and it shall continue to happen into the future. The only way to stop conflict is to make everyone equal. However even that ideal is flawed, for if everyone is equal, then no one is striving to improve. Viktor understood this flaw very well, and he did not care, he felt that he was the pinnacle of progress. He has proven time and time again how superior his ideals are to the lesser humans who opposed him. But he could not shake the feeling of anxiety he carried with him, the feeling that there had to be something more to improve on, something he could not see. Viktor stood atop the rubble of Noxus, and he looked to the sky. Smoke blocked his view of the stars, smoke from the fires that had been started in his name. He could feel the irony, the path to the knowledge he desired is blocked by his own efforts. He looked around him, seeing the formation of the ruins, and wondered if what he was achieving was progress. There were still questions left unanswered, like what is the appropriate toll to pay to bring back a loved one, is he alone in the universe, why was he born? Around him, people were cheering, loving their new leader. They were ignorant, or scared, just trying to fit in with the crowd, turning to the one with the most power. Viktor climbed down from the rubble and began to look for the house of the Grand General, asking for directions from his new peons. The house was massive, and luxurious, is this what is expected of a leader? To horde the wealth of the city in order to live in comfort, whilst the ones paying for it live in poverty. It wasn't hard to believe they were so susceptible to revolt.
Viktor walked inside the generals bedroom, a large bed, and a bird cage. The wardrobe was fitted into it's own private room for the amount of robes this man owned. It was just material to keep him warm, yet he hoarded it like it was a valuable resource. Viktor was troubled by his role as a leader of the masses, for most he would just indoctrinate his ways, but then that would just hinder progress, those who cannot fight must be free to think, and so he must be viewed as a righteous leader in order to keep his followers from revolt. He looked out the window, looking out on the blaze that was overcoming the city, so much resources, so much history lost in one night. What is the point of it all, it takes hundreds of years to build up such a strong and ancestral structure, for it to be lost so quickly. Creation takes time and a lot of energy, whereas destruction releases the energy stored by those who struggled to make it. If that was the case why struggle at all? Even in destruction, life prevails and persists. In hundreds of years this area that was once a city may be covered in plants, new life, and the knowledge that Noxus once stood here will be forgotten, which means that destruction is also pointless. So what is the meaning to existence, why was Viktor there. Perhaps meaning isn't something that is set in stone from the beginning, but something you carve out for yourself, in which case, that would mean that this was Viktor's destiny. He felt reassured from this thought.
Viktor returned to his throne room in Acropolis, trying to decide his next move. He would need to wait at Noxus for a couple of months to collect all the resources that it has to other, as well as to finish scavenging from Demacia, but after that where should his objective lie. He has a path through the mountains that can take him to Zaun, and he has already pacified the defences there, so attacking it could be done at any time, however Freljord is currently in a time of strife due to the death of one of their leaders, but they may not welcome him as calmly as the other cities had, and if he leaves them for too long they may fix their issues to shore up a defensive. It was difficult to decide, and the decision he makes may cost the lives of many. Zaun seems to be the obvious choice for now, it is the closest and has a direct path to it from Noxus. The revolution shall be swift, Hex corp. shall fall.
