ART COMPETITION and [Fan Fiction] Fall of the Glorious Evolution (part 2)
The room was dark, slightly lit by light escaping through the tattered sheet put over the window. The desk in the middle was old, hastily put together some years ago, surprisingly it stood the test of time. Kayle awaited patiently for the room to settle before she would start the meeting, behind her stood Fiora, once a trusted member of the now disbanded Woad forces, she stays at her post as a personal guard to the leader of the resistance. She had seen many a battle over the last ten years, scars tattoed her body as a marker of her victories. She wore an exosuit designed by Jayce to protect her, he blade, once a sharp and precise needle, now exchanged for a sharper laserblade. Tryndamere stood at the other end of the room, he was a changed man from whom he was a decade ago. Losing his wife in a battle, he lost himself to rage, slaughtering friend and foe alike. The Darkin gifted him a cursed demonblade, one they fed on his anger and attached itself to him, becoming one with the monster, driving him to violence and malice. Braum stood with him, still dawning his Legion armour, he acted as a limiter to Tryndamere. Braum's natural kindness had a soothing effect on the demon, keeping him from slaughtering everyone in sight. Braum's face had suffered a large cut stretching down from his forehead to his chest, yet he smiled anyway, smiled through the pain, keeping friendly even with the demon that cut him. Jayce sat in his chair, he seemed to be the most changed out of them all. He was once a kind man, thinking only of the interests of the people around him, now his mind has slipped to a darker place, his thoughts set only on his revenge, often he would stay up at night, thinking of ways he would kill his enemy. He replaced his organic body, showing no resemblance of the man he once was. Now he is a man of metal, taking designs from Mecha Inc. and from captured Battlecast mechs, he changed himself to become better than anything Viktor could create, he saw himself as the future incarnated, holding the title of Full Metal. He shared his designs with the warriors of Mount Targon, making an army of Full Metal warriors. Next to him stood Rammus, a mech designed by Jayce in his career in Mecha Inc. Rammus was made to be a simple scout, however over the years Jayce changed him to become more deadly, designed to cut and break apart machines, or organics. Caitlyn felt intimidated by the gathering, she could barely look at Jayce for what he had become, she couldn't remember him for what he was. Next to her was Yi, he volunteered himself as her guard, confident that he could protect her from any of the people in the room, should they turn their attention to attacking her. He felt less confident about taking Rammus though, he felt that the armadillo was designed to defeat him specifically.
The meeting commenced, lasting most of the day, the main topic was talking about strategies to assault Viktor's city Apokolips. The Legion told the tale of how they defeated Viktor's armies the one time they entered Frejold, displaying confidence in his fighting strength. When it came down to it, Jayce was ardent to be the one to kill Viktor, he wanted a plan that would get him to Viktor so that he could take care of him himself. So the plan was devised, the Legion and the Resistance would distract Viktor's armies whilst the Headhunters and Fullmetal division would infiltrate the stronghold. The leaders knew their roles, and had to relay their instructions to their respective armies. One thing bothered Caitlyn greatly, it was made apparent that Kayle was not of Runeterra, and although her armour mimicked designs from Hex Corp. she seemed alien to them. Caitlyn had to ask, "You aren't from this continent, why do you care about our war?" Kayle looked deeply into Caitlyn's eyes, as if she was looking into her soul. "My sister is here, where I am from we have our own war, a war I was winning, but then my sister betrayed me, bringing an unknown enemy to our land. She is here now, with Viktor, and i am here to kill her." Caitlyn didn't have a sister, the closest thing she had to a sisterly bond was Vi, and learning of her death pained her greatly, Caitlyn was confused about how someone could be so open about killing her family.
Two months after the meeting between the faction leaders, everyone was ready for the assault, the Steel Legion, Arctic Ops and the Resistance marched on the gates of Apokolips. Large, metal black gates stood in the mountain. The mountain itself looked like it was blaster apart by explosives to build the structure. The gates were shut, tightly held together by some mechanism. Zyra stood forward, pressing her hands to the grounds. Hundreds of vines spread out from her, surging towards the gates, climbing up and over them, reaching into the cracks, grabbing onto them. She gave vines to hundreds of soldiers, and together, they pulled at the gate, trying to force it open. They worked at it for hours, slowly trying to topple the structure, it felt like to was soon to give way. From over the mountain came about 100 machines, mechs with designs similar to Vel'koz. Viktor tried to remake his henchman, each time improving on the designs but never achieving the uniqueness that was Vek'Koz. Together they began firing rockets at the soldiers. Kayle would not let them be stopped. Kayle flew up high and swung her sword, destroying groups of rockets at a time, such feeble explosives were nothing compared to what she had encountered. The mechs began to twirl around each other, creating a twister of machinery. As a group they fired their lasers, combining their power into a devastating blast. Kayle placed herself between her army and the laser, and erected a massive barrier protecting them all. The laser kept firing, trying to penetrate her wall, but she stood against the blast, holding firm against the raw power of the battlecast. Slowly her feet reached the ground, slowly she was being pushed back, but she would not give up, never to surrender. The gate gave way and toppled to the ground, the soldiers were free to fight against the machines trying to destroy them. The battle had begun, the battle at the Irongates.
The battle raged, Viktor's machine poured forth from the hole that housed the gate, colliding with the organics that resisted evolution. Brand stood at the front, erecting a wall of flames in front of him, he raised the ground around him, incinerating all who stood close. Brand was akin to a volcano, firing out hot magma at the machines, his wrath burned as hot as the earths core. Zyra fought against the machine, summoning plants on the earth around her, she was dragged to the toppled gate to fight there, and she was defenceless, her plants couldn't crack through the metal, and they couldn't reach her in time to save her from Skarners attacks. Lucian refused to fight the machines, he knew what they were, who they were, and how they became the monsters they were not. He was not a murderer, he was a retributionist, and he would not kill those who he thought could be saved, and thus never joined the battle. Galio soared across the battle, blasting machines with his air. Often he would swoop down and take aggro away from soldiers who were in trouble. Nautilus towered over his foes, releasing shockwaves against them. His anchor crushed his opponents, his armour unscratchable, it would take a for just as tanky to duel him, and one was provided. Battlecast Alistar charged into the titan, flinging him into the air. Alistar's strength was powerful, normally it was his duty to open the gate, but now he can let loose and the fields of battle. Varus and Kennen stood together, the survivors of Ionia had fought together ever since setting sail from their home. Kennen hadn't changed much from his usual fighting style, instead, opted to make his attacks more precise by using kunai over shurikens. Varus bought into the use of tech, using grenades and chains to subdue his foe, his bow was still his primary weapon, more accurate than ever, he acted as a sniper killing off many mechs before they even noticed his presence. Together they were a deadly force when they powers were combined. To fight them, Battlecast Volibear stepped up to the plate. Tryndamere carved a hole in the enemy's front line, his fury was his strength, his anger was his fuel, his blade would feast on the scrap of his foes. Around him, he met a machine, designed to look like a jester. The fabled demon jester, captured by the headhunters and turned into an assassin by Viktor. Tryndamere was surrounded, a dozen of the jesters, yet only one was real, one misstep and you would be killed by a turret mine, good, he liked a challenge. Orianna kept her distance, picking her moments to strike with her ball to kill groups of enemies, she was met by the gem knight, his mind corrupted by indoctrination, he fought for his master with everything he had. Kayle had found her, Morganna, her sister. They looked at each other, exchanging a wordless conversation between themselves, they knew this would be a fight to the death for them.
