Chess master Azir, a concept thought from many for a long time but this time here is a drawing of him. his ult would be knight/rook/bishop while his soldiers would be pawns under control of the king (or the soldiers AKA W could be the bishop/rook/knights) What should be what is up for discussion but i just wanted to try and revive this concept cause it seems pretty nice.

Great idea below by a wonderful commentor and everyone else who put in there 2 cents! Don Shula and others So to summarise: Turret --> Big Rook Ultimate --> 4/5/6 Pawns W --> Queen, Bishop, Knight. Could be randomized, but I think it would make sense to have them in this order. Like, you use Queen and Bishop most often to fight, and then Knight to escape(pretty symbolic). More Bishops/Knights for URF mode. Oh, and Azir is the King. Then we make him White for Blue team and Black for Purple. Spice up with chess quotes - like, "Checkmate!" when he traps an enemy between the wall and his soldiers. "Castling!" when he summons a Rook. And you have a winner Legendary/Ultimate skin.

The ultimate should be all pawns. They are the most numerous and fill the ranks to protect their king even though they are a weaker piece. There is also a move in chess called Castling. It makes more sense as just Pawns.

Agree with him needing to look more like a king.

Soldiers should be Bishop's imo. Most often Azir's soldiers move at an angle and not straight.

It would be so cool if this was legendary and the color of the pieces changed depending on the side he was on.

Great idea, but in the details as others have said:

  • He and his pieces should change colour red/blue or black/white.
  • His ult should be Pawns, because they form a line.
  • The tower should obviously be a Rook.
  • His soldiers rotate between the other pieces: When he has a Knight out, he spawns a Bishop and vise versa, when he has both out he spawns a Queen.

I'd buy it. It sometimes does feel a bit like playing chess, setting up some soldiers on the side to ambush a jungler or some such. Plus I'm a sucker for checkerboard patterns. And I just can't bring myself to buy Starcraft Azir, just not a fan of it.

Ult being pawns makes the most sense, along with normal soldiers being bishops. But I'd hope there would be more variety in them. Perhaps they have minor changes in appearance based on certain movements, ie, dashing to a soldier turns it into a rook, as in using it to castle, becomes a queen if one kills a champion, etc etc.

I think more rectangular shapes would make him look more like a chess piece. He also needs the crown. Awesome skin though.

I've had this idea for months and only today I decided to look if Chess Master Azir had already been made by a fan. It would be perfect. Just perfect. I'll keep waiting for this skin to be released.

I think this could be a skin-line as well. The Azir one could be legendary like with project yi, and other champions could fill the roles of other pieces. Likely Hecarim as the knight, maybe Malphite as rook, the queen could be a number of champs, I think Syndra would fit well. Then that leaves the bishop, and I'm not sure what could go there.

staff soldiers are perfect armor though... COuld use some work doesn't look all that different from classic azir

He should look more like a king IT would make a lot more sense you would have to fight past the kings pawns to get to him and then hes vulnerable

He should look more kingly, wearing the crown not just have it top his staff. But I like the concept. I'd like it if the rook was the tower, and it went between having a knight and a bishop soldier summoned. Pawns for his ult, just seems to make sense to me. That leaves the queen... maybe in his recall animation or death animation.
