My Jinx Zap Creation
I've been working on creating Zap for a couple weeks now, very newbish and improvised materials (such as the tube from raquet balls, and a blue tube of bubbles) These are the pictures as she's come along, and I'd love any feedback!
-
We dismantled the cap gun, cut off the muzzle just before the barrel, and hollowed out the inside as much as possible using a dremmel with tiny circular saw blades.
-
Painted the barrel of the gun and cap of the raquet ball tube. Also painted the dowel rod black and affixed it to the now hollowed out cap gun.
-
Emptied and cut the blue bubble tubes, cut the raquet ball tube to fit over the cap gun. Carved the rounded tops for the blue bubble tubes from the styrafoam spheres.
-
Covered the styrafoam tops with painters tape for a smoother surface and began painting the designs onto the blue tubes.
-
Drilled holes where the blue tubes will be for the purpose of leading the LED wire through. Strung the LED wire through the hollowed gun, and created two "loops" with the LED wire to illuminate the inside of the blue tubes, then wrapped the rest of the LED wire around the black dowel rod.
-
Drilled a hole through the painted raquet ball top so the bead/gem could sit far enough through to fit the last LED on the wire through the hole in the bead, allowing the gem to light up like the rest of the body.
-
Glued and secured the raquet ball tube to the gun, pulled the LED "loops" through the pre-drilled holes and then glued the blue tubes onto the raquet ball tube body with the LED wire inside the blue tubes.
-
Glued the painted plastic hosing into place.
-
Used no bake clay to add details and hide the seams of the glue, let the clay dry 24 hrs, then finished with several coats of acrylic gold paint.
