League of Designs

Why hello there, comrads.

Sorry, I bring no fanarts to-day, but something much more peculiar.

I've been working on this neat website called League Of Designs. What it does is finding Red Posts, and conveniently sorting them so they're easier to browse.

The link again : http://www.leagueofdesigns.net

Wait a second, what's a Red Post ?

A Red Post is a comment or a thread posted by a Rioter (such as our Lord and Saviour CertainlyT) on League of Legends' Boards. That is, here.

Browsing them can be pretty painful, as most websites limit themselves to a mere copy paste in some section. My aim with League of Designs is to simplify the process. Indeed :

  • You may search a Red Post with any keyword.

  • Red Posts are automatically sorted by Champion (if they mention a Champion, of course).

  • You may filter and sort Red Posts using any criteria : when it was created, whom Rioter is the author, from which realm (NA, EUW...) it comes...

  • Red Posts, Champions and (soon™) Rioters are all interconnected. Find one and you'll find every related other instantly.

League of Design's purpose is for us to learn about the balance and champion designs of the game, so you will be primarily directed to Red Posts about those matters. I thusly strike two birds with one stone : I intend to make learning about the way League of Legends is directed easier, and this way help the community better understand Riot's choices. (wowsoGOODSAMARITAN)

However, I do gather all Red Posts, so if you want to check out the Music Team AMA, it's there.

How does that even work

LoD checks for new Red Posts every 10 minutes on NA, EUW and for the PBE boards. If you're wondering about the infrastructure, you can check the source on GitHub.

Contributing

You'll note that there are some Articles on LoD. I added the functionality to expose some condensed articles about the game, or ideas for champion reworks, or random stuff like the best cookie recipe out there. As of yet you can't write your own articles unless you're an administrator (i.e. me :^) ). If you want to contribute, send a mail there : [email protected]. To be frank I have no idea how that'd work out so you can also just say hello and I'll be happy. :3

Future options :

  • A thoroughly complete list of ALL Red Posts. Right now the website displays only Red Posts from after its release (~ early September) ; I plan to fetch the rest. (That's a lot of posts.) (This option is postponed until Riot fix their API, I'm counting on you boyz and gurlz !!!)

  • A refined Red Posts selection algorithm, to detect special keywords (such as « rework », « nerf/buff », etc.) and match them to champions.

  • A timeline of Champion patches. There already exists such applications on the Internet and I'm yet to figure out exactly what mine would do, so it's not a priority.

  • An Update Checker that would automatically warn you of new Red Posts without having to reload the page.

  • As of now I only check League of Legends' Boards boards, as it is the primary source of intelligence for the game. However, I believe a Reddit extension (i.e. looking for Red Posts on Reddit) could be beneficial - in fact, just as a Twitter extension. They're no priorities as of yet.

That'll be all ! I hope you enjoy your stay on League of Designs ! I'll hang around for a while to answer questions (if any). This post is summarize in the About section (along with a donate button if you want to support me).

Have a good day/evening~

I also posted this on Reddit, you can check out the thread here !
