League of Legends Tarot (Complete)
Hay everyone! I've seen a few people work on LoL tarot sets, but I've never seen anyone complete a deck so here is mine. All the art was created by using LoL art assets so I don't own anything but the design. I'm going to post a preview image for each suit and then do a little explanation of my choices for some of the cards. You can view the cards in full size at the photobucket link.
The Major Arcana! These were fun. I tired to use only updated splash art, or splash art that fit the theme of each card. Here are quick explanations for each of them.
0 - The Fool - Wukong: The Fool is a card for innocence and new beginnings. Wukong is young, quick to action, and impulsive. He is also based off the Chinese monkey king who is the poster boy for the Fool. 1 - The Magician - Ryze: Ryze is the closest champion to a traditional mage, I used this skin because Ryze is reaching to the sky like the traditional deceptions of the Magician. 2 - The High Priestess - Karma: The High Priestess is all about hidden power and potential, Karma sounds perfect for that. I choose Lotus Karma because she looks peaceful and her two hands can represent the two pillars usually seen next to the High Priestess. 3 - The Empress - Ahri: The Empress is all about femininity, beauty, and charm. Ahri Is the perfect match for those ideals, and being part fox even helps her fill the nature based roles of the empress. 4 - The Emperor - Azir: I am not shipping Ahri/Azir, but the strong, ancient, father like presence of Azir makes him a clear emperor. He's even dressed in gold. 5 - The Hierophant - Zilean: "I would never let an armored bear in the league of legends. I respect tradition." Do I need to say more? 6 - The Lovers - Twisted Fate/Evelynn: This one was picked simply because it is the only splash with two characters in focus. This is one of two cards that I chose for appearance alone. 7 - The Chariot - Xin Zhao: Will power, victory, assertion, and the fact that he has a skin where he is on a horse. i think Xin fits the theme pretty well, but the horse sold it to me. 8 - Strength - Riven: Strength is about courage and control lots of champions could represent that, but it is also about inner strength and compassion, and Riven's journey to redeem Noxus makes her my choice for true strength. 9 - The Hermit - Yasuo: The Hermit is about being along, and not always by choice. Yasuo's forced exile and introspection made him a good fit. 10 - Wheel of Fortune - Orianna: I like the idea of using Twisted Fate for this, but he was already in my lovers card. With the wheel representing cycles, mechanics, and forces I think Orianna fit the bill alright in his stead. 11 - Justice - Garen: Because Garen. The skin was picked because justice is supposed to be calm and reserved, but ready for action. 12 - The Hanged Man - Shaco: This is the other one that was picked for a splash, because he is in the perfect position to be the hanged man. 13 - Death - Gnar: A small cute transformation based champion who happens to wear a skull. Gnar is an amazing representation of death. 14 - Temperance - Sona: This one was hard but when I thought of a calm patient champion Sona's voice was the first thing to my mind. 15 - The Devil - Vladimir: How could you represent addiction and materialism better than the leagues resident vampire knockoff? 16 - The Tower - Cassioepia: Sudden changes and rethinking of your life, sounds like Cass to me. The skin was picked because she looks straight like a tower. 17 - The Star - Soraka: As the Starchild I feel she is best equipped for this card. The skin was picked for star filled night background. 18 - The Moon - LeBlanc: Unlike the last card I did not choose the character lose associated with the moon, but Lebalnc because her illusions match the card meaning of lies and illusions. 19 - The Sun - Leona: With her sun theme she also has this amazing skin which displays the fun happy side of the Sun card perfectly. 20 - Judgement - Kayle: The skin is called judgement Kayle and she wants to be judge, jury, and executioner. She fits wonderfully. 21 - The World - Udyr: Accomplishment, travel, and nature all nicely rolled up into Udyr, and he has a skin that looks like the four elements.
