[Fan Fiction] Fall of the Glorious Evolution (part 4)
Darkness, silence. The rhythm of footsteps were offset by the beat of the drip that dropped from the pipes. No lights lit up the tunnel, no torches were required from the travellers, seeing in the night was a simple task for them. Caitlyn felt remembrance, she recalled the last time she had traversed this tunnel. The day was dry and hot, heat from the crowds of people all pushed together trying to move out of the city that was actively being destroyed, leaving behind their life, their fortunes and their homes. Caitlyn was at the lead, looking ahead for dangers, she could feel the cold stares at her back, people ashamed of her for not protecting their home, and people glad she was there to keep them safe. For a lot of people it was the worst day of their lives, Caitlyn now realised it was the day her life truly began. Jayce walked this tunnel in silence, choosing not to recall the events of that day, that was a lifetime ago. Jayce had died that day, who he was now, was not who he used to be. Now he was like a soul bonded to a suit of armour, he couldn't feel, didn't need to eat, he could probably live forever. But what would life be if his enemy was still in the world, it wouldn't be life, it would be torment. Jayce planned to fix this broken world, he was the hammer, his vision was the nail, he will construct a new world, one where all could live in peace.
They had reached the end of the tunnel, the path to the surface was blocked, like a building had been place on top of it. Rammus stepped forward, began spinning on the spot. Rapidly he launched himself at the blockage, slowly cutting through the thick metal wall that hampered their progress. After a few minutes of vigorous cutting, a path was created into the building. Inside pipes were converging to a purifying well, the water was being cleaned, harmful chemicals taken out of it and converted into energy, lighting the room and keeping the motors moving. Yi was confused by the building, why was Viktor concerned about the cleanliness of water? was he cleaning the bay between Apokolips and New Zaun? The team left the building, entering the streets. Everything was metal, buildings packed tightly together, growing in size as you moved deeper into the city. In the centre was a massive structure, like a tower or a light house, showing you the way. Jayce pointed at the centre building, "Viktor is in there. You know the plan, we begin now!" Jayce, pantheon, Leona and Rammus split off from the Headhunters, moving counter-clockwise around the city, whilst the Headhunters moved in the opposite direction.
Jinx began firing rockets at random building, her eyes were wide with excitement, beat of her heart, the depth of her breath, all elevated to exciting levels. The organised symmetry of the city was falling into anarchy, and most of the fighters were gone, off fighting in a different battle. Fishbones fired rockets rapidly, each explosion was a different colour from the last, like fireworks lighting up the night sky. A new hobby Jinx had picked up, making her destruction into an art, bringing her such joy. The noise began attracting visitors, Machines had begun to repair the damage at it was created, like drones with a predetermined programme. Caitlyn began sniping them as they appeared, it was not the attention they desired, they wanted a more, violent adversary. Suddenly a large bomb fell from the sky, and the team were too slow to move out of the way in time. Rengar took the brunt of the damage, trying to body block for the weaker individuals behind him. He was hurt, badly, but he could go on. Jinx fired another rocket in the direction of where the bomb was thrown, but it was sliced apart, producing a much weaker explosion. From within the smoke, footsteps could be heard, slowly heading toward the group, the clang of metal soles on the metal floor. As the smoke began to clear, Yasuo made an appearance through it, his sword rested on his shoulder, he lifted his mask up, and took a drink, saying "Could you please explain to me why you are destroying my home?" Yi stepped forward, motioning the others to go on ahead, this was a fight he would handle. The Headhunters ran on ahead, after a few minutes of running their path was blocked by a barrage of rockets. Behind them stood Rumble, back in his war machine, aiming his drill at them. Next to him stood Ziggs and Corki, braced for a fight. Jinx, Caitlyn and Nidalee took up the challenge, leaving Rengar and Gnar to move ahead through the buildings. They moved ahead slowly, Gnar's speed was being held back by Rengar, limping behind him. Gnar heard a loud sound, a large thud on the ground. He looked behind him, he saw a large metal wolf, his jaws wrapped around Rengar's neck, violently ripping at it. Gnar didn't know how to comprehend what he was seeing, but he understood that Rengar was dying.
Rengar's blade stabbed into the wolf's back, but it didn't get Warwick off of him. Warwick bit down harder on Rengar, driving his claw into his chest. Quickly he ripped his head off of Rengar. Rengar lost his grip on his knife, his hand slowly fell to the ground, his consciousness fading. He turned his head to see his partner, the only real friend he had made in this world, watching him die. He didnt want to see it, the last sight he would have, he closed his eyes, and left the world. Gnar had tears streaming from his eyes, soaking into his fur, he looked up at the wolf, and rage began to fill him mind. He jumped up toward the wolf, transforming into a huge beast, bringing his claw down on his prey. He grabbed Warwick and threw him against the alley wall, quickly he pounced on him again, beating him into the ground. Warwick slashed at Gnars eyes, cutting him deep on his right eye but narrowly missing his left. Gnar backed off, his hard pressing against his face, he reached back, grabbing a skip, and he flung it at the wolf, Warwick took the skip head on, crushing him against the wall. Gnar charged at the skip, impacting it against Warwick. Black blood began to seep onto the ground. Gnar slowly regressed back to his smaller form, his eye still scarred from the attack. He walked over to the body of Rengar, and curled up on top of him, finding the area that was the most comfortable. Tears slowly streamed down his eye.
Ziggs was rapidly throwing bombs at Jinx, and Jinx did her best to dodge them whilst returning fire with Fishbones. Jinx switched to her gatling, and unleashed a barrage at Ziggs, Ziggs jumped back throwing down a minefield below Jinx. Jinx tried to move out of it, but her legs became damaged by the explosions of the minisplosives. Ziggs launched himself at her using a satchel charge, whilst in the air he threw a mega inferno bomb at her, and Jinx was not able to escape it. Jinx laid on the ground, her eyes closed, and a smile wide.
Caitlyn began shooting at Rumble, her bullets barely penetrating his shields. She asked him, "Why have you aligned yourself with Viktor?" Rumble hovered towards her, firing his flamespitter at Caitlyn, he replied, "Because he gave yordles a place to live, a place where we could thrive. We weren't servants to some aristocrats to him, we were people with as equal rights as everyone else." Caitlyn launched herself back with a net, firing at Rumble's visor, hitting the same place each time. "Aren't you scared that he will make you into monsters?" Rumble fired his drill at Caitlyn, narrowly missing her each time. "Yordles are weak, we never evolved to be powerful fighters like you humans, we evolved our minds, creating some of the greatest scientists in history. Here we can work on creating a better world." Caitlyn fired her peace maker at Rumble, breaking through the crack she had been creating with her attacks. Caitlyn aimed down the scope, looking Rumble in the eyes. "I'm sorry but, the future you're making for us, is not the one we want." Caitlyn fired her attack, executing the yordle.
Nidalee pounce high in the air at Corki, her claws digging into his plane. Corkie began to fly up high, to the rooftops, spinning around to try and shake the cougar off of him. Nidalee transformed to her human form, one hand clutching the plane, the other gripping a spear. She drove her spear into the Yordle. Corki lost control of his plane, and began spiralling down to a rooftop. His plane drove Nidalee into the roof, with the energy he had left, Corki unleashed a barrage of bullets and rockets at her, breaking a hole in the roof, collapsing her down to the floor below. Nidalee died in the fall, and Corki bled out.
Yi and Yasuo were locked in an epic fight of blade, moving at speeds that would be hard to follow to the untrained eye. Their swords clashed together, lighting up the night. Yi moved in at high speeds, striking Yasuo in an unconventional manner. Yasuo tried his best to block the attacks, making sure to strike back when he had the chance, always aiming to the area's where Yi was weakest. Yi was bleeding out, he retreated back a few paces and began to meditate, trying to close his wounds. Yasuo used the opportunity to unleash a whirlwind at Yi, knocking him to the sky. Yasuo jumped up, hacking at Yi multiple times before sending him crashing to the ground. Yi lay on the floor, bleeding from the multiple wounds all over his body, his sword broken to the hilt. Yasuo stood over him, preparing to execute Yi. Yi took off his mask, revealing his scarred eyes, he looked at Yasuo in the visor, and asked. "Why, why did you betray mankind?" Yasuo lifted his Visor, and said, "I didn't. You are all so focused on what Viktor had done that you cannot see beyond that. You cannot see the good that he is doing. The Bracken are now able to live in this world. The void creatures are under control and happy, the yordles have a home again. This city, this city was built to create a brighter future. Humanity was a plague, destroying this world with magic and war, and now, Viktor is here to heal the damaged we have done." "But at the cost of our freedom!" "And where was the say of the Bracken when they were forced underground? Did we give them a choice then? No." "That is different!" "No, it is not different. You must see beyond yourself and see the world for what it is, only then can you find peace in yourself." Yasuo then brought his sword down on Yi, beheading the last Wuju Bladesman.
