MVDuneCats1 votesThank you for compiling this data, and I hope you're able to keep up with updating it. I'm trying to plan ahead a few months as to when certain champs I might want will go on sale. But many of those champs, I haven't had a chance to play. So having some kind of data on how often those champs have been free helps give me a clue as to whether I'm likely to get a chance to try them on free week before the next time they go on sale.
MVDuneCats1 votesThink you could add a formula that shows roughly how many weeks go by on average between free week appearances for each champ? The Grand Total column is not as meaningful when comparing a champ that has been out since the beginning to a champ that has only been out a year.
Edit: I have some ideas on how to implement this without the upkeep being too difficult. Let me know if you want to hear them.

At the time, column KM was the first empty column, and I added the following formula in that column: =((COLUMNS(B4:KK4)-VLOOKUP(COLUMNS(B4:KK4),$A$136:$B$146,2,TRUE))-(MATCH(1,B4:KJ4,0)-VLOOKUP(MATCH(1,B4:KJ4,0),$A$136:$B$146,2,TRUE)-1))/KL4
This formula is for the cell at KM4, and can be copy/pasted to the other cells in that column.
Essentially, the formula is attempting to count the number of total weeks since the first week that the champion made a free week appearance, and then divide that by the grand total in column KL. To figure out the number of weeks, it uses the COLUMNS() function. However, since there are season based sub-total columns, I had to come up with a way to subtract out the appropriate number of those sub-total columns.
So the first COLUMNS() call counts the number of total weeks ever recorded as well as instances of sub-totals. The first VLOOKUP() call determines the number of sub-total instances, and that's why it's being subtracted. After that, the MATCH() call determines how many weeks occurred before the first free rotation appearance. Again, the VLOOKUP() is used to account for sub-total instances.
The table being referenced by VLOOKUP is in A136:B146. Column A contains an index for a column offset to a sub-total column, and Column B contains the number of sub-total instances at that point. The table looks like this: 0 0 34 1 97 2 108 3 160 4 172 5 215 6 224 7 267 8 277 9 296 10
Column B is simply 0 to 10. Column A can be manually entered. I used formulas to make it more clear what they were representing. For instance, "34" is actually the formula =COLUMN($AI$2)-COLUMN($A$2), "97" is the formula =COLUMN($CT$2)-COLUMN($A$2), and so forth.
The upkeep to make these formulas continue to work shouldn't be much at all. Inserting a column for a new free week will cause formula at the end of the row automatically adjust. When a season ends and you add new sub-total column, the table at the bottom would need a new row, and the VLOOKUP calls in the big per-champion formula would need a quick fix.
MVDuneCats1 votesAshe is pretty obviously a frequent free rotation participant. She is in the free rotation every 4.1 weeks. Unsurprisingly, Sivir (4.3 weeks) and Annie (5.3) are pretty common. However, Kalista is actually the 3rd most common free week champ at just 4.8 weeks between appearances.
Certain support champs are also very frequently in the rotation: Morgana (tied for 5th at 5.6), Taric (also 5.6), Soraka (tied for 7th at 5.7), Zilean (also 5.7), and Braum (10th at 5.8).
The 10 free champs tend to follow the meta with 2 top, 2 mid, 2 ADC, 2 support and 2 jungle. There are fewer ADC champs and Support champs in the game than the other 3 roles, so it makes sense that the champs that appear the most often in free rotation are ADCs and Support.
Meanwhile, at the other end of the spectrum, people have already come to realize that Yorick, Poppy, Alistar and Tristana aren't going to be in the rotation. Those 4 aside, what champs appear the least often in the free rotation? Shaco - 23.6 weeks between appearances Evelynn - 23.5 Rumble - 19.2 Jayce - 18.5 Swain - 18.2
The "average" time between appearances for all champs is around 10.6 weeks.

MVDuneCats1 votesIn retrospect, I should probably list Annie as mid. While she can be played as either support or mid, it looks like Riot is having her fill a mid spot when she make an appearance during free week. That would make her the most common mid.
