I love cosplaying! However, this year I am having money issues. I have to, unfortunately, sacrifice something from my costume. I am having a terrible time deciding since I love to make my costume as great as possible. What would make it less epic? What should I sacrifice?

The contacts and the animatronic ears don't seem terribly important, especially the contacts.
When I cosplayed as Renegade Talon I went and got red contacts and wore them all through the convention I was at. I got a lot of comments on them in person, people do love the attention to detail but you couldn't tell I was wearing contacts from any pictures.
Same concept with the ears, while they will have a lot of "wow" factor in person, they're not going to convey in to pictures. So while they're really fun and worth it if you have the time and resources I wouldn't sacrifice the look of the tails for something like that.
The tails are definitely worth paying a lot of attention to - they're a huge part of Ahri's identity! Movement on your ears and the color of your eyes aren't as core.
Riot forewent the yellow eyes when they put her in the CGI video. I'd vote for that. 
Colored contacts get painful after hours of wear. I would drop them.
