[Fan Fiction] Fall of the Glorious Evolution (FINAL)
sorry it took so long to do, had an artist's block and decided to scrap the comic part, hopefully i can make up for it by being 1000x more descriptive in this final segment of the story.
The building was shaking, dust began to fall from the ceiling, the cobwebs vibrated as the stairs below collapsed on itself. No one had walked this path in a long time, years it would seem. Jayce knew what was happening, he had his teams life signs show up on his HUD, he was alone now. This is what he wanted, all he wanted for the last decade. The time he spent preparing, setting events in motion, researching everything he could, it all led to today. He could finally get revenge for what had happened all those years ago, he can set things right, and put the restless souls at ease. Jayce walked down the corridor, his steps were heavy, and the sound of his steps echoed all around. He was close, he could detect Viktor on his heat sensor, behind this door. Strange, the door didn't look grandiose, for a dictator this entire area seems to fall to the standards of the common man. Jayce pressed his hand against the door, it was heavy, seemed like it was locked into place by rust and dust and web. Jayce leaned his shoulder against the door, pushing hard against it, but it hardly moved. He used his thrusters for some extra force, and slowly the door opened. The room was dark, the gust of air rushing into the room unsettled the dust that lay on the ground. Jayce began hacking into the room, turning on the systems, breathing life into this wasteland. The light flickered on, the shutters on the windows slid open. The room began to buzz with activity.
In the centre of the room, was a chair, and all wire, and pipes, and lights seem to point there. Like a throne, built into the room, it stayed there as the only noticeable piece of furniture there, covered in dust and webs. On the chair sat a man, with wires screwed into his head, so many that it seems like it was his hair, merging into the throne he sat upon. His eyes were dimmed, like there was nothing in the body. Jayce looked around, looking for a sign of life or activity. "Where are you Viktor?" Jayce didn't receive an answer, and this frustrated him, to have come so far only to get nothing for his effort. Jayce shouted louder, "WHERE ARE YOU VIKTOR!" Still there was nothing, no change in the room, no movement from the body. Jayce readied his hammer, and began smashing it around the room, screaming "WHERE, WHERE, WHERE WHERE, WHERE, WHERE, WHERE, WHERE ARE YOU!" Finally he got a reward for his efforts, Viktors voice resonated around the room, "I am right here, in front of you, i am everywhere, but as to where i am physically? I am nowhere." Jayce began frantically looking around the room, searching for Viktor's presence. "This isnt fair, I deserve a chance at you, for everything you have done, everyone that had died at your command. I deserve to end you." "It almost sounds like you hate me..." Viktor's voice sounded sullen. "Of course I hate you, you tore down everything I had worked for, who i once was is no more thanks to you." "If you hate me so much, why did you work so hard to become me?" Screens appeared around Jayce, images of him, appeared on the screen, some of who he used to be, some of how he looked like over the years, and one giant screen, directly in front of him working as a mirror of who he is now. "You have replaced what made you human and became a machine, how are you different from me?" Jayce began smashing the screens around him, leaving the mirror for last. "We are different in so many ways, for instance i don't brainwash those around me to do my bidding, and then send them to die in a war that i don't even take part in." Viktor sighed, screens reappeared, playing clips of Jayce's teammates dying, and the surviving Headhunters still fighting for their lives. It played clips of the battle that was occurring at the gates, the slaughter of man and machine. "You sacrificed your comrades for your vendetta against me. All those people dying because you knowingly led them to a battle they would lose." "You're wrong, I do not lead the resistance, they come to fight you for their own reasons." Images of Kayle appeared on the screen, her protecting her army, her battle against Morgana, her crying in the face of impending defeat. "You enabled them, giving them hope and strategy, you took advantage of their fear and showed them the path to destruction. That is no different than when I ignited revolution." Jayce began smashing the screens again, as he smashed, more took their place, showing him all the battles, all the deaths, all the despair. Slowly the screens came together to form one, showing an image of Jayce before he changed, and slowly morphing into who he was now, as a tyrant. Jayce cried out, smashing the last screen. As it shattered, the shards showed Viktor, as they fell to the ground they revealed Viktor standing there in front of him.
"I suppose you do have the right to fight me, in the end i did do some terrible things. The progress of science isn't always pretty, sometimes to get where we are now, you have to start a war. Look at what we have accomplished because of it." Viktor brought up screens around him, gesturing to the many inventions that had been created thanks to him. "The automobile, the Hex powered ship, water purifiers, modern medicine, flying machines. All created because they were required." The screens fused into one, showing one last invention. "I admit, not all of what we create is so nice, this, this can destroy an entire city in a few seconds, leaving the area uninhabitable for decades to come, i've had this for about nine years." "You could have ended us whenever you wanted, so why didnt you." Viktor looked at Jayce, he couldn't show it on his face, but he felt a great sadness and fear. "The power to end everything with one button press, it's just too much. I can't imagine how must feel to knowingly exterminate those who have no way to escape from their fate, innocent lives who have no wish to take part in the war ended because one man decided to take it one step further. I just, couldn't do that to myself, i have already doomed my soul for my sins, I don't want to doom everyone else who desired to live in peace." Jayce felt no pity for Viktor, all he saw was an opportunity to end all that Viktor had worked to achieve, that would be his final vengeance. Viktor hovered his hand next to him. from below it, a hatch opened, bringing up his staff from the ground. "Well you wanted a fight, lets do this."
Viktor threw down a gravity well below Jayce, Jayce was being affected by the immense force that was dragging him to the ground, he threw out his Acceleration gate, cancelling out the effect of the gravity, and allowing him to make a swift escape from its grasp. "I had been doing my research Viktor, I built myself to be the counter to your techniques in every way. There is no way you will win this fight." "We shall see..." Viktor blasted Jayce with his laser and began to retreat back a few paces, luring jayce towards him. Jayce ran towards him, but became trapped in a energy field produced by the room. "I told you, nothing you do will work on me!" Jayce discharged a lightning field around him, frying the circuitry that imprisoned him, he began to move closer forward. Viktor opened a trap door beneath Jayce, sending him falling to the floor below. As Jayce fell he fired a shock blast beneath Viktor, also sending him falling through the floor. "Enough of your pathetic traps, fight me seriously!" Viktor stood up and dusted himself off, "Very well." Viktor threw out his Chaos Storm above Jayce, tearing him apart. Jayce threw down another acceleration gate, trying to retreat away from the drone that was disintegrating him. He turned around and fired a shock blast through the gate, launching it at alarming speed towards the drone. The drone was torn apart by the impact of the blast, crumbling at the seams. As it fell apart it became unstable, the storm that it contained within it broke loose and began circulating around the room, tearing apart everything that was within it. It was like a cyclone, trying to suck Jayce and Viktor into it, Jayce used his thrusters to try and escape it, but it only slowed his suction. Viktor kept himself held in position using a gravity field, but he was in great pain. His body was being forced apart, two rival forces pulling at him from opposing directions. He had to stop the storm. Viktor brought up and interface, and opened the roof, he activated the vents to suck the storm to the outside. The storm raged outside, growing larger and larger inside, ascending higher and higher in the sky. Drones appeared from the city, flying up towards the storm, activating barriers around it, containing the entropy. The drones broke themselves apart, forming a casing around the the storm, now the size of a small ball. The ball slowly fell into Viktor's hands, as he picked himself up. Viktor looked around, but he could not see Jayce. Suddenly he felt a heavy impact on his side, Jayce's hammer collided with Viktor, sending him flying through the wall into the next room. Viktor tried to get to his feet, but was met by a shockwave knocking him down again, he wouldn't be given a chance to breath. Viktor began firing his laser towards Jayce, piercing his shoulder, setting of explosions in his wound. Jayce was greatly hurt, but the adrenalin that was pumping through him kept him going. Jayce launched himself at Viktor with his thrusters, bringing his hammer down on him, but some quick thinking on Viktor's part saved him from the damage, he had erected a shield with power he siphoned off Jacye while he had launched himself. Jayce activated him cannon and fired three quick shots at Viktor, the first broke through the barrier, the last two damaged Viktor immensely. Viktor fired his laser up Jayce's body, setting of small explosions up his torso, Jayce was knocked back by the force. Viktor readied the storm ball and threw it at Jayce's head. Jayce quickly dodged it and caught the ball. He could feel the power of the storm rushing within it. This power, he would unleash upon Viktor, killed by his own technology, how appropriate. He launched himself at Viktor, jamming the ball into his stomach. Jayce whacked Viktor hard with his hammer, launching him out the building at the Chaos storm erupted inside of him. The storm began to tear Viktor apart from the inside out, he screamed out in agony as he was slowly broken down to his elements. Viktor began to fall to the bottom of his skyscraper, anxiously waiting for the impact to end his suffering. From behind him, one final shock blast collided with his back. Viktor could see the city he built at he fell, the pain was so great that it just drowned out of his consciousness. He felt numb, light, like a great burden had been lifted from his shoulders, the burden of life was being taken away from him. His life began to flash before his eyes, his childhood, the loss of his parents. When he became an adult, and when he built his first machine. He remembered all his inventions, all his friends that he built, all his successes, all his failures. The last ten years seemed to go by in a flash, everything he had worked towards was about to come to an end. For the first time in a long time he felt a little happy, he felt a little human again. As he came closer and closer to the ground, one last word whispered from his mouth. "Thankyou"
Jayce could see from the heights that Viktor had died, but his revenge wasn't yet over. If possible he would have prefered Viktor live to see what he was about to do, but the fight got out of hand, well, not everything can be perfect. Slowly Jayce made his way back to the top of the stairs, back to Viktor's throne room. Now he had to finish Viktor's army. He took control of the console and brought up controls for the bomb Viktor had shown him. He calibrated it to aim for the battle at the black gates, locking onto an immense heat source, Brand. Jayce fired the missile at Brand, it moved at high speeds, inescapable. He could hear the explosion from there, he didn't think about how many friends he had just killed, all that was on his mind was that his revenge had been carried out, the amount of machine caught in the blast would cripple the remnants of the army, bringing humanity back to the apex of power. He sunk into the thrown, internally smiling at himself. He began to close his eyes, he was tired, very tired. He felt a sharp pain pierce his chest, his heart. It hurt, it hurt so much, he cried out in pain. There was a voice speaking to him, but it felt like a murmur, his senses began to grow fuzzy, touch, sound, sight, all began to darken. He could barely make out the image of what killed him, a machine, shaped like a bird. He tried to reach out his hand to grab him, but he felt weak, and he lost control of his hand. Slowly he closed his eyes, and sank to what felt like a painful slumber.
Well i hope you guys enjoyed the series as much as i enjoyed writing it. Very excited for the new Battlecast skins that are coming out. This will probably be the last this i write for a long time, but if i do decide to write again, i may write about the shadow isles in the same time period, see what happened to Void Lucian and all the dead souls that were affected by the battle.
In anycase if you would like to reread the story, here is a link to all the previous parts in order. Hope you liked it, feel free to post any comments you have about the story!
