Really enjoyed the group draws this year and I felt there was at least 1 convincing reason to watch each group.
Group A - Obviously barring a superhuman level of choke Rox Tigers are a super favorite by every standard to 6-0 this group. However Both G2 and CLG have, interesting, histories at major events. Based on what I saw of playoffs and recent play I'd give G2 a definitive edge, however, there are several weeks and boot camps to be done prior to Worlds. Not to mention it will be played on an entirely different patch. If either team has drastic changes to their level of play that will be the deciding factor. I like to call this the Group of Faith, Korean fans will have total faith in Rox, EU fans will have faith in G2's ability to perform, NA fans will have faith that CLG will step up, and Albus Nox Luna is going to need all the faith it can muster to pull off a miracle upset to get out of this one.
Group B - Most people consider this one a shoe-in for SKT. I am not so sure. SKT seems to be struggling a bit with the meta changes and performed somewhat poorly in the playoffs. Also Flash Wolves did win and split 1-1 with SKT during MSI. I believe the team does indeed have the talent to challenge for top spot. C9 is a bit of a dark horse, but they do have very talented laners in Jensen and Impact, unfortunately Jensen has struggled vs very high-tier midlaners and is in a group vs Faker and Maple, two of the world's best. I like to call this group the MegaMid group. With talent like Faker, Jensen, Maple, and Kira competing this should be a very explosive lane to watch.
Group C - This groups the most straightforward of all of the groups. EDG is a huge favorite and has performed quite well all season as well as in the playoffs. China looked very strong at MSI and not much has altered that. For the second slot I just do not see H2K or INTZ stepping up to challenge AHQ. H2K has a history of choking when the pressure is on and even though I really enjoy Prolly as a personality and his knowledge of the game seems top notch, I do not think they will fix the issue that seems to plague them every postseason. I call this one the Done Deal as I really don't see any reason this should not be a 6-0, 4-2, 2-4, 0-6 group.
Group D - This is probably the only truly controversial group of the batch, and no surprise it is the group TSM, the #1 NA seed landed in. Did CLG's run at MSI actually matter? Has the gap closed between Eastern and Western teams? I think it has, at least enough so that TSM can beat a struggling RNG and a somewhat fluke Korean 3rd seed. Unfortunately for EU fans Splyce is pretty outclassed here although I could see them potentially taking games off of RNG who did struggle greatly with the current meta and floundered thier way to a #2 seed in much the same way CLG did. I like to call this the Fanboy group, Korean fanboys are all going to place SSG and RNG ahead of TSM and NA fanboys are all going to place TSM first.
