The 2017 Mid-Season Invitational kicks-off this week from Brazil. Only one team will reign and become our new MSI champions.

Our English broadcast team will be joining the pros on their journey to prove their region is the best. It’s time to introduce your MSI 2017 on-air team:

My favorite Phreak moment: 2015 MSI commentators vs. pros. Condemn, tumble, bye bye Huni.

Hopefully we will see some more of that awesomeness at the upcoming MSI.

I just love the amount of digestible information he puts out. It is no easy feat to explain complex things on the fly in a coherent fashion and no one does it better. From being a viewing noob in season three up until now, regardless of my individual knowledge Phreak just keeps dropping knowledge bombs on me.

Thank you for Captain Flowers <3

You should let Azael solo cast http://www.copypastatroll.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/omgscoots.png

I like how Rivington uses his actual name instead of "Riv" haha.

It's like Pastrytime, Fish, Quickshot, Rivington Bisland III.

I enjoy when casters from different regions are together for international events.

whoooooooo, CaptainFlowers!

EndlessColdzApr 25, 20176 votes

am i the only one that want PaPasmithy??????

KlingerlordApr 25, 20175 votes

In Phreak and Kobe we trust ✌🏽

CanORageApr 25, 20175 votes

Hooray, PapaSmithy ftw! Few could have followed the imo best-in-the-business former LCK duo so well, but you've done it and cemented yourself as the best around. Just the right balance of humor, enthusiasm/hype, and game + metagame information for your role. Thanks to you for your work and to Riot for recognizing it!

Now what we need is him and co-rookie of the split Captainflowers casting. Only then will I be able to enjoy the SKT stomp-fest.

First thing i checked when i saw this was is Phreak going lol

Thank god LS isn't in this

Pet My FurbyApr 25, 20175 votes

LS's analysis requires more intellect to comprehend than what your pea brain provides

SaveMay 12, 20171 votes

Almost funny. However, his analysis isn't the problem, in fact it's what he does best and it's extremely informative. The problem I have is just his casting overall. He doesn't have a voice/emotion suited for casting, especially in the region with the best teams in the world and some of the most competitive ones. I find him just extremely boring and frustrating to listen to.

How to get the best air team: put CaptainFlowers and Phreak in it

Tbone6Apr 25, 20171 votes

My only question is why only one caster from LCK? No love for Atlus or Achillios

sKz Aaron DApr 28, 20171 votes

The casters in Korea aren't Riot employees, most are contract workers with OnGameNet, or who ever owns the LCK (doubt they sold it, but I don't know for sure) and they say that Riot doesn't offer competitive enough pay for their events. Riot owns the majority of the leagues though, with probably all of the casters/analysts working at them as employees. So they have more than enough people available with just the three English speaking regions to where they wouldn't need to offer more competitive pay to the Korean casters.

Smithy is apparently the only one willing to take the gig, and if I recall correctly, that was the case at last Worlds or MSI as well. IEM is a different story altogether, though. Sadly, ESL's production quality has shown itself not to be up to Riot's and the LCK's standards. So sometimes you get really stupid things happening - like one of the casters watching a CS:GO highlight reel on their tablet in the middle of a match, with the sound being broadcast through the League stream. -_-

i legit scrolled just to make sure Phreak was doing play-by-plays

EleshakaiApr 26, 20171 votes

Well I'm generally happy with this... I hope Dash has less time to be... well, obnoxious, than he did at Worlds. When he's in a studio talking shop he's not too bad, but I hate listening to him pretend he's commentating wrestling. I don't need him yelling in my ears.

Aside from that though, this is looking to be a good event.
