High Koalaty Multiple Daily Prized Tournaments
High Koalaty Gaming Daily Tournaments Info To clear up some confusion asked both on our Teamspeak server and in this thread I'll be posting some important info including some terminology. Difference between Event and Bracket: An **Event ** is a tournament we host such as
- Summoner's Rift 5v5 Draft (3 Brackets)
- Howling Abyss 5v5 ARAM Smash (1 Bracket)
A Bracket is a division of our tournaments. If an **event **we host (The Summoner's Rift 5v5 Draft tournament) has 3 **brackets ** then we have split the event up into 3 larger groupings. This usually means that we are trying to pair skill groups to make the tournament more fair and fun for each skill level of player.

Tournament Extended Information and Goals In the case of our 4:00 PM Eastern / 1:00 Pacific ARAM Tournament Our goal for the ARAM tournament is a very large turnout to ensure we retain the larger tournament prizing. If we hit 64 teams (320 players) we meet the minimum requirements for retaining the 60K RP Prize Pool. Players enjoy showing up and playing ARAMs with little pressure and high rewards. So what if you lose, we do these every day. We actually receive far fewer reports from our ARAM event then others and have seen quite a bit less anger and frustration when losing.
In the case of our 7:30 PM Eastern / 4:30 PM Pacific Summoner's Rift Draft Tournament Our goal for the Summoner's Rift Draft tournament is to ensure a stable multiple bracketed rank sorted event. This event comprises the bulk of our shoutcasting/streaming schedules/goals and is more or less what we have been known for up until now. This event is considered to be more serious by many players and where the bulk of our moderation is centered. With the recently reduced prizing player turnout and interest has dropped in this event however we still offer and maintain the event for everyone in the community who still enjoys it. It is not possible due to time constraints to host a 64 team bracket for this event as a healthy event having between 16-32 teams leads to the tournament ending around Midnight-1AM Eastern (9:00-10:00 PM Pacific) at the very latest.
How do you choose the number of brackets per event? When it comes to adding or removing new brackets we need to be able to safely expect a certain level of turnout. To expand and add a bracket we would want to be able to fill at least 2/3 of a new bracket with our current turnout. This means that if we expect 64 teams for our large ARAM then to expand into a second bracket of large ARAM we would need a full bracket of 64 (the minimum) plus 2/3 of 64 (the minimum again) for a total of (64+43=107) teams to expand. This isn't a Riot requirement for expansion into a bracket, this is our requirement. We of course apply our own advertising and try to increase turnout any time we expand.
Will you host other events? Yes over time we plan to add many more events to our rotation. The one caveat is that we will not add events to our rotation if we do not have the staff capabilities to manage them. When we are ready to add a new event we poll the community and ask for feedback. We are currently in the process of deciding what our third and potentially fourth events will be and when they will be hosted. For more information on that you need to be in one of our tournament lobbies before Saturday October 3rd.
