Coaching Tips and Strategies?

My high school has recently started a league club which they have asked me to be the advisor of. We have signed up for HSL to compete with other schools around the nation. The students have asked me if I could take on a coaching role with them. I definitely would love to help, but I am just a silver level player.

Does anyone have any coaching tips or strategies they would be willing to share? Right now I have 2 teams and we have been scrimming on a weekly basis. I have them do custom games to try to improve their farm occasionally as well. Thanks!

Analyst/Coach for a challenger team here. Some ideas you might consider for your teams-

  1. Have them watch their own replays. Having them watch and analyze their play from macro point of view really allows them to fix some basic mistakes they wouldn't have normally seen.

  2. Watch game footage (I'd look at Korea or China). Watching people excel at the game can inspire them, they will also learn the ways to dominate a game by watching the Asian meta. You can have them watch this on their own, or watch it together an point out specific things like warding and team fights.

  3. Give them very specific advice. Watch a player through-out a match and see where they excel and falter. CS, poking, dueling, ganking, grouping, warding, etc.

  4. To challenge them have them play unique team comps. Either of champions that don't synergize well, or with a specific idea (protect a hyper carry comp, dive, poke)

Don't feel like you wont be a good coach because you're silver. Our Manager/Head Coach is Gold and he is a brilliant coach for top-tier challenger team. If you have any questions add me on league and then I can give you my skype.
