David "Phreak" Turley isn't deterred by the casters' loss to the pros at the Mid-Season Invitational. With a shield of horrible jokes and just general overconfidence, he somehow still believes he's a pro-caliber player. Lolesports sat down with him after the MSI showmatch to find out exactly what was going through the mind of NA's punniest caster.
First things first. Where the heck was the Trinity Force on your Vayne??
Phreak: I thought about it before the game, but I realized that my love of winning is actually above my love of fanservice. So, I built real items. I was going to, at the end of the game, sell boots for Triforce, but scumbag Febiven is a tryhard and killed the Nexus when I was just starting to reach my final form.
Why would the players ruin a perfectly good dance party?
P: It's actually my team's fault. In full Solo Queue status, I blame my team. We were all told backstage, dance party until one minute. At one minute, you can do whatever you want. The dance party starts, and my teammates start walking towards the turret, closer and closer. The time ticks through, one minute hits, and down goes XiaoXiao. It was like, "Alright, this is a great start to the game. Time to walk to bot lane."
Does that mean you think the pros are a bunch of tryhards?
P: Some were and some weren't. To be fair, I was full tryhard and still got pooped on. I can't hate too hard. But you had people like Huni, who built full AD Swain, and then built a Zz'rot Portal. That was cool. Then you had Wildturtle go for the movement speed/Luden's Echo build, which was really cute. He built up a bunch of static on his feet and went around and shocked people.
And then, you had Thaldrin go full tryhard LeBlanc with Mejai's. Febiven, okay, he's a backdoor tryhard, but he would take 1 vs. 1s that he maybe wasn't going to win. Or he was disrespectful. Whatever. Either way, I crushed him twice.
You got two solo kills on Febiven. Does that mean you're better than Faker?
P: Yes.
In case you're not following the greater than and less than signs, Febiven on an AD assassin got two solo kills on Faker. Phreak gets two solo kills on Febiven while he's on an AD assassin. I mean, Talon is basically Zed. In fact, Talon's winrate is better than Zed's in Solo Queue, so he's obviously a better and stronger champion. And I solo killed him. So, I'm a god.
Not to mention, I had to share experience in my lane. XiaoXiao was leeching experience away from me. I was even under-farmed compared to Febiven. Still rocked that kid. I am the best of all time.
Febiven was playing top lane, but he picked Talon. Is that cheating?
P: No! It's fine. You can pick whatever champion you want. I mean, Huni picked Swain and went bot lane. He built a Long Sword after getting first blood -- thanks XiaoXiao. It's totally fine for him to pick Talon. I'm a gracious ruler, I'll allow people to play whatever they want.
Finally, aren't you a Vayne main?
P: [scoffs] I am an AD carry main. Vayne is my favorite champion.
I played one warm up normal game with Kobe earlier in the day, and then played here. It was like, "Oh, this is what 7 ping feels like." I was missing Tumbles and stuff because I was hitting buttons too soon. I haven't played Vayne on 7 ping in four years, probably since the Champion Spotlight. It took a lot of getting used to.
That sounds a lot like an excuse.
P: It's a really big excuse, in fact. If only my opponents weren't tryharding, and if only I played better, and if only I had time to play League of Legends, and if only 700 things happened that would make me a better player, I would have won.
