MSI: Pros ask the pros

Here at the Mid-Season Invitational, some of the best pro players from around the world have convened to take on one another for regional pride. Ahead of the big matches tomorrow, we sat down to do a special version of Ask the Pros. This time around, Lolesports started off asking the pros from Beşiktaş e-Sports Club a question, then the pros took it away to ask questions of the other competitors at the event. Here's how it all went down.

Lolesports: Who are you most looking forward to playing against at MSI and why? Isak "Energy" Pettersen Fjell: Obviously I want to play against Faker because he's the best mid in the world. Everyone says he's great [in] lane and pressures you for every [minion kill], so I want to see if he really does. Kemal "Dumbledoge" Gökseloğlu: I think it's Lustboy. He has really great lane control and I'm looking forward to playing against him. [When I play against him] I will focus on the laning phase because I think that's the thing that matters early game, so I will just watch him closely. Energy: I want to ask Santorin from TSM, how does it feel to be the most handsome Dane on TSM? [laughs] Dumbledoge: I think I would ask Lustboy, what is his favorite thing in America?

Jang-sik "Lustboy" Ham: My favorite thing in NA is knowing good people here. I like the culture also! Lucas "Santorin" Larsen: I need some time to think. And why didn't I get the question Lustboy did?! I don't know what to say. I'm not really flattered. I think it's more, personality wise, [Beşiktaş] have a different point of view. No one thinks the same thing. [laughs] Lustboy: I would ask SKT's Faker if he plans on being in a relationship during his career? Santorin: I would ask Fnatic's Febiven how he thinks he's going to match up against Faker and Bjergsen?

Sanghyuk "Faker" Lee: While I'm a professional player, I do not plan to get a girlfriend. I don't want to be distracted from my practice, because I need to practice. Fabian "Febiven" Diepstraten: I've been playing scrims already against SKT and they've gone pretty well, so I'm actually really confident. But it's just scrims, so I cannot really tell how well I will play on the stage. I don't know about Bjergsen, but I think I can compete against him, because I've been watching the NA LCS and I feel like he's playing against worse people. He's playing really well, but I think I can play well against him. Faker: I would ask Westdoor from ahq, between the Taiwanese and Korean server, which does he believe is stronger and has better players? Febiven: I would ask Pawn from EDG if he watches EU LCS and if he knows me?

Shu-Wei "Westdoor" Liu: Faker chose me? I'm so surprised! The strengths of the Korean server is much better than the Taiwanese server. The reason why is because Korea's playstyle is very aggressive, allowing them to use much more pressure than those playing on the Taiwanese server. I would ask Pawn why he used to play Nidalee so much, but stopped after Worlds? Won-seok "Pawn" Heo: To Febiven, actually, I just watch LCK. I can't work and watch another league. I also don't know when the other leagues start. [laughs] To Westdoor's question, Nidalee is just not good. My favorite mid laner to play right now is Fizz. And there you have it! Febriven's questions and answers said a lot to me about his personality. He believes Bjergsen plays against weaker talent in NA than Febriven does in EU, which is shocking because it seems like most professional analysts lean towards NA as the superior region (Another explanation for this could be that EU arguably has more talent specifically in mid lane). Also, for his question he decided to ask Pawn, arguably the best mid laner in the world (not an argument I'd take, but people CAN argue for it) whether Pawn had heard of him. Seems quite interested in himself, honestly. I like Faker's question and answers because they show how competitive he is. I wish this article was longer. I really enjoy seeing the interactions players have with those of other regions. More of this, please!

Well to be honest, to me he felt a lot more like a star struck young player who goes to this stage for the first time. He clearly looks up to Pawn and just wonders what he knows about him.

When it comes to his Faker and Bjergsen answer well.. He basically just confirms what a lot of people are saying about EU/NA midlanes. Don't forget that Febiven is the midlaner of the best EU team but not the best EU midlaner at this time. He knows how to play against people more skilled than him in a role. So his confidence just shows that he feels he knows how to play against better people. He doesn't say he can beat him, he merely says he can compete with him. And that is all his role in Fnatic is: compete well in midlane and be ready for teamfights.

How can you jump to such a conclusion on Febiven's personnality only based on a few written words ? It's not like he went out and said he will stomp everybody... He just exposed his own opinion in a way that is humble enough to me. Who are we to judge, he obviously has a better view of the situation and at least doesn't predict his team to win MSI while everybody expect them to be 4th or 5th, like Westdoor does lol.

Well i did notice that febiven is a bit cocky in a start of the season. But on the other hand...he could be right about NA midlaners aswell. I would say NA is ahead in map strategy, calls, etc.. But individual players are better in EU. By my opinion. (pls dont go for "but we have lustboy and doublelift" trashtalk). Half year ago most analysts lean towards EU as the superior region. Things change quickly. But players are the same.

While I agree that NA is ahead in map strategy and calls and overall understanding of the meta, I wouldn't say individual players are better overall in EU. I think it's more likely that the skill gap between the top teams and the bottom teams is larger in EU than it is in NA, highlighting players such as huni who, while I agree that he is a very skilled player, has his most notable performances on champions that have high early game kill pressure - something that lesser skilled players aren't as capable of performing well against. I'm not going to address the obvious bias from the EUW replies, sorry; (specifically the first reply) just don't feel like being attacked for having a negative opinion of the way **febriven used this opportunity to ask about himself. ** (Also don't appreciate him calling NA talent worse than EU without having played against anyone from NA. If [his confidence against bjergsen] was due to him being used to playing against mid laners that are better than him, then surely he would have said that).

To everyone, and Westdoor himself as well. I'm not sure if it's really a "surprise" that Faker notices him when Westdoor was once number two in Korean solo queue when Faker was first. If I'm number one at something surely I would like to know who the number two player is ya? Lol...

Well, can't blame him. The last two world champions came from that region(him being part of the second of those teams), it makes sense to follow them first.

Also timezones. Both EU and NA play during night/early morning for them. And the regions aren't relevant for a single player until either a big tournament happens or they explore some new meta change.

And these asian teams have coaches and analysts to do all that work for them. So they will know when it's relevant.

Any one going to talk about how one of the best NID players in the world drops this bomb and pretty much makes it fact. Won-seok "Pawn" Heo: to Westdoor's question, Nidalee is just not good. Also i would like to ask him what he feels is the biggest hit she has took over the last couple years. 1.losing her jump, land jump 2. thickness of the spear 3. losing armor and MR buff in cat form then losing MR scaling and then takes scaling nerfs

Not all relationships are high-maintenance. But at younger ages, they might be more likely to be. When you get older and stable, a relationship can reach a maintenance phase where you're not actually losing time and energy on the whole.

But yeah, if you have a 19-year-old SO who gets mad if you don't reply to a text between matches, then you're going to have a problem trying to do much of anything in life. If you're dating a 30-something who's the same way, then that person should be way past that and needs serious therapy.

Energy totally was flirting with Santorin lol, while Lust Cena flirted with Faker-sama. I don't think Febiven was being cocky to be honest. It feels like he's just saying NA teams have different play styles, which EU counters hard, and he wanted to know if Pawn knew him because that's a subtle flirt.
