So does the C9 win mean they auto qualify Gauntlet?

From coming 2nd in the spring season C9 gets 70 gauntlet points

One of the matchups is TIP vs DIG:

TIP came 4th in spring season: 30 gauntlet points

DIG came <6th in spring season: 0 gauntlet points

Additionally: GV came 6th in spring season 10 gauntlet points

Getting 5th/6th place gives 20 gauntlet points which would leave either team at less than the 70 C9 gained.

This should mean that C9 auto-qualifies right? I guess ideally they would hope that GV gets lower than 3rd place (40 points) and TIP gets 5th/6th place (20 points) in order to get the 2nd seed (which plays 1 less Bo3 set in the gauntlet.)

On that note... DIG, TIP, and GV are in bad positions...

DIG: DIG has to win more sets than GV or get a minimum 3rd place to guarantee a run. GV: GV has to get 4th place or have DIG lose to TIP to guarantee their run. TIP: DIG needs to place below 3rd, or GV has to lose vs TSM to guarantee their run.

I'm pretty sure Dignitas is just effed. They probably won't beat TiP. TL and TiP are in the best positions to win the split/get championship points imo.

Cloud9 auto-qualifies, but they will most likely be the last seed, having to be mostly red side, and still having to push their way up the ladder.

Yes C9 auto-qualifies for the regional qualifiers since no scenario in the playoffs will put 4 teams above C9 in points.

Huge C9 fan here! TL:DR - C9 is 100% going to the gauntlet for the 3rd spot at worlds!!!

After C9 won the tie breaker and got 7th place, the announcers said that C9 had to get 4th overall championship points to get in the gauntlet to get the possible 3rd place spot for worlds. 4th overall where the first place of the summer split doesn't count, and the 2nd seed (most championship points overall) also doesn't count. Because they already qualify for worlds. There are 7 teams eligible for the gauntlet. 2 of them are going to already qualify for worlds. 4 of them will go into the gauntlet. This leaves out one team. The list below shows the teams that are eligible for the gauntlet and the place that the team has to get for C9 to hold more points then them. As it currently stands, Dig and Impulse are playing each other in the first round. Therefore, one of them will get the 5th-6th point pool and C9 will beat them no matter what!

Here is a layout of the current points of the teams and the place they take in the current playoffs where C9 will still have more points then them, TSM - 90 - Cant beat C9 - 70 TL - 50 - Cant beat TIP - 30 - 5th or worse CLG - 10 - 4th or worse Gra - 10 - 4th or worse Dig - 0 - 4th or worse
