Isn't CLG being a little overhyped here?

While not belittling their solid performance of the past weekend, i can't quite convince myself it had nothing to do with Udyr's state in 6.3

UPDATE: Well it seems they can't cheese more than 1 game in a tournament format.

They used Udyr and Fiora to choke them out on the map. They outplayed them in the macro game and draft select and heavily deserve the praise for beating the undefeated IMT squad. They went after IMT strong side, Huni and Reignover and still won. They didn't play the classic CLG laneswap and the casters were even questioning their decision not to laneswap. They had a gameplan and executed it against arguably the best team in NA. I'd say that deserves some recognition.

A little. But still when your team beats their only 2 rivals for best team in NA in one week, fans are going to get excited.

It was a solid performance by CLG, let their fans enjoy it.

It puzzles me how people are either too high or to low on CLG It is unfair to attribute their wins only to them abusing splitpush strategy and Udyr pick. They have been good throughout the entire season, and I don't understand who try to diminish that. they have shown good consistency and macro play for the NA scene, which was one of the key reason why they beat IMT while other teams failed to hold on their early lead vs them

They haven't suddenly become super good either after those 2 wins, either, I'd still rank them in a toss-up with TSM for 3rd best team in NA. It is undeniable that it is doubtful if their team, especialy Darshan and Xmithie, can perform at this week level not only in NA, but also when projected at international level because of team's intrinsec limitations talent wise

I mean they beat IMT, something only they did this split.

When isn't CLG overhyped?

Well, if it was the fault of Udyr wouldn't IMT and C9 just ban it?

Not to mention that C9 and IMT could have first picked the Udyr before CLG got it considering CLG was red side in both games.

My problem is CLG is that they've won big games one way: Darshan's split push. If you can force him off of a duelist, CLG is infinitely worse. Not just that, they stole Baron right before they won, and not the most convincing steal. I think that, with Baron, IMT easily could have backed and regrouped before Darshan pushed in, and at that point, we have no clue what might happen.

I want to see them win Bo3 /Bo5's. I don't think a team is going to let them splitpush for 3 wins in a row.

That said, good on them beating IMT.

Meh, they didnt exactly look super convincing in either win. A lucky walk-in baron steal, a tower dive throw by C9. And, they already lost to both of those teams this same split. Id personally still rank them 3rd behind both IMT and C9. They at least looked better in the IMT game. If not for that failed tower dive, they got severly outplayed the entire c9 game.

They showed a good strategy, which honestly worked decently vs IMT, and failed vs. C9. Even with it working decently vs IMT, you have to credit a walk-in baron steal for sealing up the game, and they were pretty much going to lose that c9 game.

There are so many champions that are OP right now, you really can't just say that it was due to Udyr. Besides, Udyr is one of the most kiteable champs in the game, especially at that level.

I think they deserve the hype since they beat IMT when IMT actually had a pretty good game. CLG just outplayed them on the macro level.

I am loving this year in NA since our teams that make Worlds are actually going to be prepared for international play due to the greater amount of talent and strategies being employed by different teams. I'm not saying we are the favorites yet, but at least we should put up a better game than in the past.

Yes! Why? They found one strategy that works. The thing is, every season they find this one strategy that works well. Last time it was with Doublelift on Tristana and use him to turret push quick to gain gold/exp advantage. They would work around that really well using different champions like Lulu, or Janna..etc. C9 also picked up on it and used it heavily in Worlds. The problem came when people realized key ingredients to make this strategy works...in this case it was Tristana. Once that went away, we all saw what happened.

This new strategy looks goods. Might be a big harder to work with but still
