Samsung White continues dominance vs. TSM

Few gave Team SoloMid (TSM) a chance of winning even a single game in this series. While it wasn't pretty at times, TSM showed great heart in their loss Friday night. Samsung White (SSW) on the other hand proved why they were hyped as the best team coming out of groups; though they were humbled for their hubris in Game Three. It took more work than one would have thought, but White was able to come out with a 3-1 victory.

Game One

This game can be characterized by a few key misplays by TSM early game. They miscalculated where Samsung White would be in the jungle and it cost them a ton of early game experience. A few bad engages, and getting picked off in the mid game, lead to White snowballing to a huge lead. TSM tried a desperate dual split push, but SSW ignored them and went for the win.

Game Two

Game Two started similarly to Game One, with a flurry of mistakes by TSM concerning jungle buff invades and early objective control. A great five-man dive bot lane for Samsung White ended in disaster for TSM, and the Koreans were again able to snowball their advantage when Imp initiated a two-for-zero trade followed by an inhibitor kill. From there, the game turned ugly as White constantly made showboating kills all over the map before ending the game up over 15,000 gold.

Game Three

An abhorrent champion select for Samsung White spelled early-game disaster. TSM was able to capitalize on weak early game picks into a 5-1 kill advantage early game after several great skirmishes. A great initiation by TSM in the mid game broke the match open and Samsung White was never able to recover. After methodically taking two inhibitors with their advantages, TSM cracked the base at 26 minutes.

Game Four

While Imp would later say it was a lack of confidence, it was perhaps a hint of arrogance that lead to Samsung White's downfall in Game Three. With renewed resolve, White was able to get a much better champion select in Game Four, giving DanDy his signature Lee Sin and countering TSM's strategy on multiple fronts. After some early ganks by Samsung White, they gained control of the map for the most part until a pentakill by Imp put the game firmly in their control. TSM was able to fight back late game with great rotations, getting several free towers and even an inhibitor using superior team positioning. Eventually TSM's maneuvers got a little sloppy and Samsung was able to close the game out. The Quarterfinals continue tomorrow with Samsung White's sister team, Samsung Blue, taking on American darling Cloud9. While Cloud9 is expected to fair slightly better against Blue than TSM did against White, it will still take a great improvement over their Group Stage performance to win out against Blue. Make sure you catch the action right here on October 4 at 14:00 Korean Standard Time / 10:00pm (October 3) Pacific Time / 7:00 Central European Time.

R.I.P. TSM. Becomes so unfair that probably the best two teams go afront in the D1G1...

If amazing hadnt jumped out like an idiot, went with the team, and waited until they got to one wave outside their own base, they could have taken both inhibitors, backed and let the game stall with two lanes pushed with super minions. At that point they could nuture the lanes and eventually force the bottom turrent and inhibitor. Without a single fight (where they were clearly outmatched), TSM could have had the minions win for them. Shame.

It is exactly what Dandy said in beginning of the game "doesn't matter if TSM win or lose fan will always be with them". I mean "yah TSM did put up a good fight and take one game off SSW, but saying TSM would of win if "bla bla bla ..." is just wrong". Why do you all praise TSM "beautiful rotation" in game 4 and not praise SSW for dominated in game 1 and 2. Give SSW some credit will you.

I find it funny that so many people are hating on NA and not offering up any real reasons. Just a bunch of stupid shit about them being over-hyped or not playing any big name people.

They say all this and yet here was NA in the quarterfinals and taking games off of Korean teams. This is after they beat other international teams in the group stages to advance this far. I mean, how stupid or hate-filled do these people have to be?

SSW were toying with freeSM all 4 games. If SSW played nearly as seriously as they did back in Korea it would've been a 3-0 sweep.

Also PawN is better than Bjerg.

This is in regard to everyones opinion, kinda universal, but yes I'm a huge TSM fan always will, honestly though Samsung White's experience and synergy is just on a different level than TSM. But what people don't realize especially TSM fans, its about there progression over the past year their play has advanced so much, there strategy and understanding of the landing phase to mid late game has improved so much. Yes game 3 was in super favor do to the lack luster of SSW, but who knows what will happen next year. Im not trying to boost NA or the US for the matter, but look at soccer for example. America has been absolutely horrible in the past and now they're competing with top teir international teams. What most don't understand is the world stage is a lot more frightening than it seems. This is their job, their living, the pressure is unreal, especially when you know the team you are facing has been breed to play video games. For that matter, i see real potential for TSM in the future, their skill level can only get better, their understanding and choices can only improve. Quick note too anyone who says Turtle is lacking in skill your false. He's been 1 in NA solo que for a while now (back and forth within top 5 i should correct myself). He's the reason i became a fan of TSM, and in all honesty the day he leaves is the day i resign from being a fan. Take a look at his enthusiasm, he's all smiles he brings such happiness to the team. He's part of the balance and is so crucial to their success. Plus is tristana play is remarkable most of the time as well as his lucian. Not to keep on going but i think that Amazing is lacking a little too but not because of his skill but because he hasn't been able to adjust to the complete team as much as they'd like and thats ok. I believe in their progression and there incredible comebacks thats why i like them not cause i think they're the best. One love everyone, and enjoy the rest of worlds. I have a weird feeling SHR is gonna take the crown this year.

They actually ended up taking two inhibs due to superior rotations, but it's w/e.

Sucks, I was hoping they coulda made I farther, but always room to improve, TSM did good to get this far. as for all you people that are complaining about na fan boys, its a competition, we all have our teams, let them duke it out, just enjoy the game they are stressing the fuck over, and that means all the players both sides. and for the person who singled out that a number of NA teams have people from diferent countries, Look at America, its a melting pot... of course there are people from different countries. quit being a dick, and crying or complaining about peoples opinions. im just tired of seeing League community as a fucking whole flame each other. calm the hell down its a game. get the fuck over yourself.

To be honest I think TSM needs someone to analyze their opponents and point out their flaws and weaknesses, like Alex does for C9, along with LemonNation's notebook. So far they've been doing good, but getting too overconfident at times, as such happpened when they were against SK Gaming. I feel a little hurt to say this, but I believe that Turtle is the weak link on the team right now. Don't get me wrong, he's good, but I feel like he just isn't as top notch as he should be right now. I think TSM would be better with an aggressive but smart adc, like Piglet or WeiXiao, just the thought of that kind of synergy with Lustboy would be godlike. Sorry Turtle, I still love you, but you need to step it up a notch, or step down from the chair.

This series is honestly what I expected. You cannot deny TSM did not play too poorly in games 1 and 4. SSW definitely deserves this win, but it is nice to see TSM and NA as a whole improving as a region.

I just love how game 2 shows that taking the wraith camp after your first buff is bad and wrong. With all the crazy invading and singed proxy pushing going on it looked a bit crazy but in the end what actually happend was that kha starts red goes right to blue while j4 is stuck doing thw whole wraith camp for no reason. He loses the buff cause hes just a little to late at blue. Yeah singed helped, yeah they had this invading going on, but singed didnt help kha at red only at blue. So kha was actually just as fast as he would be if nothing happend.
