Power Rankings #15 -- Samsung Galaxy

Samsung Galaxy Region: Korea (LCK) Roster: Top Lane: CuVee Jungle: Eve Mid Lane: BlisS AD Carry: Fury Support: Wraith Ask anyone who the best team in 2014 was and chances are that they’ll mention one of the Samsung teams. After all, Blue exerted a chokehold over the Korean scene from Champions Spring onwards, and White did not finish below 3rd in any tournament, even capping off the year with a World Championship victory. Those memories are now galaxies away, with the ten core members of Blue and White now playing in China. Now, Samsung is represented by three solo queue recruits and two relatively unsuccessful veterans. They’ve only been together for a month, but the new Samsung squad has managed to take convincing games off such titans as KT Rolster and NaJin e-mFire. Samsung is the prime example of how a team is more than the sum of its parts -- and when you consider that they retain some of the coaching staff of the 2014 Samsung teams, it’s clear that they have a lot more room for growth. Samsung is an explosive team with a stellar early game, leading many fans to draw parallels to the KT Arrows in their analysis. Being compared to the Arrows is not always a good thing, however, and we see many of the Arrows’ flaws in Samsung as well. Samsung’s high-octane play has taken teams by surprise, as they win games at decisive Dragon fights or terrifying tower dives. It is this same impulsive style that has seen victory slip away from them early in a game. All in all, Samsung has great potential, thanks in no large part to the experience of the organization backing them. Wraith brings a wealth of experience to an already-strong bottom lane (with teams like SK Telecom T1 and Jin Air on his resume). Plus, there's still synergy to be developed between Eve and his solo laners, which would amplify an already-strong laning phase. Wisdom will come with time and experience, and Champions Spring is the perfect platform to acquire those. Who will be next on our Pre-Season Power Rankings?
