The four best teams in North America are facing off this weekend in the 2016 Summer Split Semifinals!

The showdown begins Saturday, August 20 when 2nd seed Immortals take on 3rd seed Cloud9. Then, on Sunday, August 21, witness another chapter in an age-old rivalry as 1st seed TSM do battle with reigning champs and 4th seed Counter Logic Gaming. Once again, we’ll be honing in on specific matchups with our alternate streams this weekend.

On Saturday, Julian “Pastrytime” Carr will lead the analysis of the mid lane matchup between Immortals’ Eugene “Pobelter” Park and Cloud9’s Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen. Joining him will be Greyson “Goldenglue” Gilmer and Alexey “Alex Ich” Ichetovkin.

Goldenglue has played mid lane for several NA LCS teams over the years, starting games for Team Dignitas, Team8, and Echo Fox. Alex Ich is a true mid lane veteran, serving as a founding member of Europe's Moscow 5 in 2011. He made the jump to the NA LCS last year, and he’s currently a mid lane sub for Team Envy.

Sunday’s stream will focus on the support matchup between TSM’s Vincent “Biofrost” Wang and CLG's Zaqueri “Aphromoo” Black. David “Phreak” Turley will host, accompanied by supports Matthew “Matt” Elento from Liquid and Alex “Xpecial” Chu from Team Apex. They’ve both played against Biofrost and Aphromoo numerous times, so they’ll have firsthand knowledge of each player’s skills.

Mid Lane Matchup

If you take your eyes off this mid lane battle for even a second, you could miss a game changing moment. Pobelter and Jensen are two of the best mid laners in the region. Immortals handed Cloud9 two series losses in the regular season, with Pobelter earning a 4.7 KDA to Jensen’s KDA of 2.7. However, during the regular season as a whole, Jensen led the entire NA LCS in kills with 207 and in CS per minute with 9.5, compared to Pobelter’s 173 kills and 8.5 CS per minute.

Support Matchup

What is normally a close rivalry has been anything but that in the Summer Split. TSM swept both of their Summer Split series against CLG, with Biofrost earning a combined KDA of 17 to Aphromoo’s 1.7 KDA. Aphromoo will look to recapture the magic of the Mid-Season Invitational, where CLG came in second behind world champs SKTelecom T1.

All four teams have their eyes set on the 2016 NA LCS Summer Split Finals in Toronto next weekend and a guaranteed spot at Worlds 2016. But they’ve got to make it past their Semifinals opponents first. Which players will demonstrate the higher mid lane IQ: Pobelter or Jensen? Will Biofrost continue his dominance, or will Aphromoo return to his play making ways?

All of these questions and more will be answered in the Mid Lane Matchup this Saturday at 12:00PM and the Support Matchup this Sunday at 12:00PM on Lolesports, YouTube and Twitch.

Why do they delay this game for a league that's not even in North America? I've got my beer and I'm ready for this to start on time, it's stupid that they delay this game because of EU. Nobody gives a crap what EU is doing, start the NA game at the time you freaking list it.

For this year I think TSM will make it. They've been looking really good this season but CLG won't make it easy for them.
