Voting for the All-Star Challenge

Spring is here! And in the pro League of Legends scene, that can only mean one thing – the All-Star event is fast-approaching. As we announced a couple weeks ago, this year's All-Star event in Paris, France is going to feature a new format that will be showcased at the start of each day called the All-Star Challenge. During the All-Star Challenge two mixed-region teams will go head-to-head in wild, fan favorite game modes. For the new Challenge event, players will not only elect two pros from their region to represent them in the competition, they will also cast their votes to influence special elements of the game modes. Curious how you can participate? Details on the format and how you can cast your votes can be found below.

How does it work?

Starting on March 30 and ending on April 12, you'll be able to visit lolesports.com where you’ll find a roster of eligible players for the All-Star Challenge. Every day, you'll be able to vote for any three pro-players from any combination of teams to represent your region. After the voting has closed and all the votes have been tallied, we'll announce the results and reveal which two pros will be representing their region. Once the player results are tallied and teams are announced, we'll be showcasing the first of the four Challenge game modes. Once per week you'll have the opportunity to place your vote to influence a unique aspect of each game mode leading up to the final day of the All-Star event. Voting for the game modes will begin after player voting closes so mark your calendars and check back to lolesports.com for more updates. Where is the love for Aphromoo? He's been making plays this entire split. Also, remember that C9 now has a better record against foreign teams now. Dyrus is not as good as Balls, even though I am a die hard TSM-Dyrus fan, I have to admit this. Wildturtle will not play well against Asian teams if he does not change his play style to be safer. Flashing in to get more kills 1v5 is not something that will work against good teams.

Thus, my favorite team comp would be:

Balls>Dyrus - Meteos - Bjergson/Hai - Aphromoo/Xpecial - Doublelift>Sneaky/Wildturtle

Hard decision in America, Balls for sure over Dyrus. Doublelift too, and Meteos, personally tho Would love to see Aphromoo as Support. as for Mid... that's the hard decision, Bjergson or Hai... good luck picking one of them. the other 4 players are almost obvious.

Look. Hai is not that good. He really only makes plays when set up perfectly by his team. Honestly Hai is the weak spot of C9. And Sneaky? No one wants Sneaky. It's gonna be Wildturtle or Doublelift.

My reasoning for choosing Balls over Dyrus is mostly because Dyrus builds straight tank from the start (with the odd item 3153 thrown in here and there) and just relies on Bjergsen and Wilturtle to make the plays while he dances under the turret. Yes, Dyrus usually wins his lane hard, but he is usually the one reacting to plays and gets kills from others underestimating him. On the other hand, Balls goes super aggressive from level 1 and pushes the lane in hard causing his opponent to miss many CS while Balls somehow manages to poke them under tower as a melee champion (god much?). In teamfights as Renekton or Shyvana he can usually be found diving in to the entire enemy team and then 1v2ing the enemy carries while zoning them from the rest of the fight. Dyrus is a great player and all but I feel Balls has a more favorable playstyle that helps his team more than Dyrus does.

when Reginald had to fill in for Bjergsen, Dyrus did his part and some, having one of the best KDA's of those weeks when Bjergsen was absent. so that part of your reasoning is invalid.

I think it should be Wild Turtle over Doublelift. Like yeah, he got a penta last year, but that was last year. Not this year. I think Wild Turtle's been doing a lot better than Doublelift this split.

Wait one minute are you do realize that WildTurtle and Double lift are mechanically in the same tier, double is just better on vayne, and in general WildTurtle is better at lane trades and i would say a tad better then Double at positioning. Overall they are fairly even in skill so either of them could go to the all stars. Also Bjerg is the early to mid game carry but late game turtle goes ham and wins nearly every time.

The statement on mechanics is questionable but I will hold my doubt for now. However, CLG doubtlessly has the best bot lane NA at least in terms of laning, Aphromoo may take away part of the credit but it does tell Doublelift is at least equal against WT in this aspect. On the other hand, I definitely won't overestimate the positioning of a player who is known for overextending, claiming that WT has better positioning than Doublelift does not make much sense to me.

Teamfight-wise, as far as we can see the way WT "carries" is more about snowballing leads or closing games, not about bringing the team into the winning position, which was true even back in the days of Reginald. When behind, WT pretty much only waits for someone to go big. While he does contributes, he is never the major part of it. In fact, he even ruins comebacks occasionally because of overextending. On the other hand, Doublelift can definitely do more under similar conditions, proven by the countless plays of him in the past.

Overall, I think the strength of WT is largely around the team strategy of TSM, and there is a reason why the praise is often given to Bjergsen or Reginald but not him. To be fair, WT fills his position extremely well and leaves little room for criticism. Yet, when compared to a Doublelift who is good almost every place of the planet, WT is definitely at the short end of the stick.

THE FORMAT THE ALL-STAR INVITATIONAL

Serving as this year’s main event, the All-Star Invitational will bring together ***the regional winners of the NA LCS, EU LCS, LPL, GPL, and OGN Champions. ***These five teams will duke it out in group stage play, with the top four advancing to a best-of-three semifinal. The winners will meet in in a best-of-five final to compete for the $50,000 winner-take-all prize.

THE ALL-STAR CHALLENGE

At the beginning of each day of competition, players will be able to watch The All-Star Challenge, a series of games featuring two mixed region rosters. Players will not only elect two pros from their region to play in the Challenge event, they will also vote to influence aspects of the modes that the pros play. Player Voting begins on Sunday, March 30, so mark your calendars!

it will only be one team from NA... so either tsm or c9 most likely. stop mixing the teams up. You don't vote for you fav players of each region, you vote for the players in the winning TEAM of each region.

I think i'm gonna vote for Balls and Aphromoo here, Balls simply dominates his opponent on Renekton more than any other top laner in the lcs. He is pretty much Garen teed (heheh) to win his lane and is often carrying the game for Cloud 9. Aphromoo has maintained a solid KDA while making some amazing plays on support. I feel he really underrated and is one of the best supports in the lcs. Best Alistar NA!

I think the Eu should be Froggen, Diamond, Darien, Rekkles, and Nyph. OP team xD Na should be Hai/Bjergsen, Balls, Wild Turtle, Xpecial, and Meteos/Dexter.

Meaning only 2 pros for NA. In my opinion it'd have to be Bjergsen for Mid and either Balls for top or Meteos for Jungle.

I mostly agree, but I don't see why everyone is picking Rekkles. Forg1ven has been much more consistent than Rekkles this season and Forg1ven almost never gets beaten in farm.
