The Challengers: Get ready for 2017 NA CS Spring Split

A mixture of fresh and familiar faces will descend on the Rift for another exciting split of Challenger starting on Wednesday, January 25.

Six teams with rosters packed with new talent and former LCS pros will fight for a coveted spot at NA CS Playoffs and the Promotion Tournament.Here’s what you need to know to watch the 2017 NA CS Spring Split:

What’s the format?

The format will remain the same as last year, the NA CS regular season will continue to be Best of 2 (Bo2). The top four teams will advance to Playoffs where all matches transition to Best of 5 (Bo5).

What’s the schedule?

Regular Season

  • Week 1: January 25
  • Week 2: February 1
  • Week 3: February 8
  • Week 4: February 15
  • Week 5: March 1

Playoffs

Spring Playoffs will take place on:

  • Semis: March 7 (2nd vs. 3rd, Bo5) and March 8 (1st vs. 4th, Bo5)
  • Finals: March 15 (Bo5)

Promotion Tournament

The Promotion Tournament will take place on March 31-April 2 with the NA LCS 9th place and 10th place, as well as NA CS 1st place and 2nd place teams from Spring. The winners will secure a spot in the NA LCS and eliminated teams will earn spots in the NA CS.

As we previously announced in December, the Promotion Tournament will now feature a “dual-style” format or a double elimination Bo5. It means win twice - you’re in, lose twice - you’re out.

How do I catch the NA CS action?

As with last split, we’ll be broadcasting four regular season games per week on Wednesdays. Games starting at 5:00 PM PT  - one full match, and Game Twos from the other two series. All games will be available as VODs.
