It’s not always possible to copy the pros. Watch the slow-motion replay of Faker’s legendary Zed outplay a thousand times and you’ll be no closer to duplicating such disgusting micro mechanics in-game.
But runes are a different story. Anybody can copy a rune-page setup and instantly reap the benefit. Learning how to optimise one’s base stats can lend a very real edge (EDG?) in battle. Especially for players in lower competitive tiers who are still working on mastering League’s gameplay fundamentals, there’s no shame in letting the pros do the “blackboard math” of rune stats on your behalf.
Below you’ll find the most common rune builds used by pros competing in the recent Mid-Season Invitational. Try them out for yourself and see if you can feel a difference. Worst-case scenario: copying the pros’ MSI runes just makes you a faker!
