question. Why no azir in competitive play so far this season?

Currently, he's not "meta" which is whoever is most powerful this season. This obviously goes to people like Fiora and Gangplank, and why many, many, many, many games will never be truly balanced (i.e This game, DOTA, most fighting games, some FPS and TPS games, all JRPG's can be broken).

let me better define my question. Why isnt he considered meta. When tower pushing objective base games that rely heavily on team fighting comps isnt he considered meta. OR why are pro's not picking him? i know he got repeatedly b4 worlds but he was still a priority then with no nerfs after i belive.

He was nerfed, and other champs were found to do his role better. While some champs may be really good, they may not be powerful or appropriate for the match at the time. This is the highest level of play where the best choose the best champions, even the "easy" champions and the "skill" champions. If Azir was truly great during this LCS season, then he would be Pick/Ban priority.

Because nerfs.Riot destroyed him.Also they didn't give mana buffs 5.22 patch.Very weak for early game and normal for late game.Competely useless.

The AP item changes heavily nerfed him, over everyone else. This might just be me, but RoA isn't good on him, FQC isn't good on him, and Abyssal Scepter isn't good on him. Azir wants to rush Nashor's Tooth, but that's just not gonna work in this meta. Compare that to the picks we've been seeing: Ahri, Lissandra, Ryze, Lulu, and other mages that scale off of more average stats, ones that can use the current meta items. Now combine that with his repeated nerfs, and you're getting a below-average pick that can maybe zone a little.

To be honest, though, I don't understand why he isn't picked AT ALL. True, the nerfs hit him hard, so he obviously is not in the previous condition where he was 100% pick/ban, but getting to the exact opposite is ridicolous There are far too teams that are having troubles in getting proper waveclear when they go slightly behind or where their team got a non particularly god waveclear ADc that it make no sense that someone like Azir is not even considered as pick

At some point someone will recognize that and start re-using again the Azir, Ziggs, and such, and the first team that will be able to pull it out will have an enormous strategic advantage...it is just, teams look like they are stil almost everyone in a warm-up phase and they are going only with a small group of meta or flex picks

I'm expecting Ziggs and Xerath to come back soon, especially with the Ziggs buffs in 6.3, but I think Azir will still stay out. He just doesn't have the same level of long-range waveclear that he needs. Remember, Azir became popular due to a combination of many different things, including huge nerfs to many assassins, which is about to turn on its head with recent LB buffs and the new AD assassin item.

If Azir remains out, then Ziggs and Xerath remains out too. It looks like just teams are too scared of their immobility to play them right now in an assassin meta...which kinda make sense, especially given the kind of junglers used in the meta actually...but also it would make sense at some point to use the lack of waveclear of the enemy to take quickly objectives And Azir is relatively safed than the other cause of the ulti after 6

In mid lane burst is always better than DPS, and Azir currently is strictly DPS. Before he got nerfed he had really good burst on his Q along with great DPS, now that his Q damage is nerfed, he's all about DPS, and if you're gonna pick a DPS champion, you might as well pick ADCs. If you want burst, then you'll pick Viktor, Ahri, Lissandra, or Leblanc, which is why they're in the meta.

You might ask "Well why is Lulu and Ryze in the mid meta then? They don't do too much burst". Well that's because Lulu has ridiculous supportive buffs while Ryze is just plain strong, although the low win rate might say something about Ryze's actual strength and the mid lane being burst preferred over DPS. Plus, the only person able to have strong performance on Ryze is Faker, so I wouldn't call him all that strong.
