Congratulations to Team Liquid for finishing the 2015 NA LCS Summer Split regular season in 1st place!

After a 12-5 run, Team Liquid first secured a shaky victory over Team Impulse, managing to knock down the Nexus in a 59-minute brawler. That victory pushed them into a tiebreaker match against Counter Logic Gaming, where they earned a crushing victory in 35 minutes to end the split on top. Forever fourth no longer!

"It feels pretty good!" laughs Team Liquid's top laner Diego "Quas" Ruiz. "Most importantly, getting the first round bye was the biggest thing for us. So winning the Team Impulse match was the best, and it felt pretty amazing to win that."

"We've always been a middle of the pack or bottom team. So finishing 1st is pretty good for us, actually! A nice change, I don't mind it!"

"Beating CLG is also good for us because it gives us some more confidence," he continues. But he also says that there's still plenty for Team Liquid to do over the next few weeks. "I think there's a lot to work on in terms of communication, like some fights we're not executing that well and it just gets snowballed on us," says Quas. "I think there's a lot to go over, even in these games, and just make sure we're always on the same page. And that way, we're not going to randomly throw fights."

That said, he's still proud of what his team was able to accomplish. "I think everyone on the team played pretty well, and we're always sticking to the plan and getting our picks. They're putting me on Maokai every game, but I don't care as long as we win. I'm pretty happy about how our team is shaping up. I'm excited about it."

With this win, Team Liquid will head to Madison Square Garden on August 22-23 to face off against the other top teams in North America for a chance to go to the 2015 World Championship!

The way it is actually written makes it seem like TIP secured first place.

Using a comma as an adjunct abbreviation for 'and' is common practice in reporting and newswriting standards. I used to work as a Production Manager for a newspaper, so I've seen it quite a bit.

It's disorienting to those that don't regularly read newspapers, but it is indeed proper English. It just isn't commonly used on the internet because kerning isn't as big a concern due to the flexibility of web pages.

Upvote because it is at the very least an awkward sentence to read that way. Before you finish reading the sentence, the comma preps you to possibly expect a list with an "and" at the end. Only in retrospect would careful use of English rules confirm that the comma itself was being used in this headline shorthand for "and" sort of way. I don't think I ever see this done outside of newspaper headlines, now that I think of it, simply because headlines like to use a small number of big letters.

("TIP to secure No. 1..." as a new sentence fragment would suggest that TIP is going to secure No. 1, or could under some condition to be specified, so that's even another hint.)

I don't really know the answer but I'd assume that Drive was produced by Riot's North American division and therefore only feature NA players. I imagine that Riot's EU office can produce these kinds of features also but either a. just aren't a big enough office yet b. find that producing other things are more important for them or c. the internet traffic from EU onto a English based website(and at this point im kinda talking out of my ass with no facts) is just not high enough. I don't actually know but those seem like reasonable guesses as to why EU content just isnt there at the same rate.

well consider that FNC secure both playoff and number slot like half a month ago, doing an article for them this late is kind of lol.

as for their total destructin of EU retkin every EU team this split, IMO they deserve more then a article, hopefully riot put together a nice vids with interview and awsome replay with some nice editing for that awsome run.

i dunno if they will place 1st they are pretty much playing were they deserve to be, even looking at worlds losing in the regular region and not coming in first is unacceptable for a team that wants to compete at worlds.

FNC didn't look to much into the regular season they were focused on playoffs and world prep but still went undefeated, winning games they should of lost and just out right beating teams.

i think TSM will be in the top 3 but not sure if i can 100% say they'll be in 1st place, but they will of course have their worlds spot.

TSM PROBABLY will make it to worlds, but they won't if they keep playing like crap. I would be really surprised if they don't step it up in playoffs, but CLG, TL, Gravity, and Impulse are all looking a lot better right now.

With TSM playing scared and feeding the way they have been, anything can happen in NA. I can't even try to call anything anymore. The only thing I'd bet against is Dignitas suddenly remembering how to play again and taking 1st.

I think TL is the safest bet right now. Their whole lineup is pretty freaking strong. As long as they don't fk up champ select and strategy too bad, they'll get to worlds for sure imo. Then again, CLG's lineup looks super strong on paper too, but they consistently mess things up and throw games...

CLG line up has maybe one of the better top laners in the top teams (but CLG sadly doesn't know how ot work with people who aren't mid or adc) and pob is a solid mid he isn't the best but he is surely far from the worse, xmithie....is like a coin heads he is good tails he is booty i feel this is how he decides to play before matches...flips a coin lol. doublelift is.......a vet that is still solid but makes bad positional errors when not in a team fight or dueling someone, and aphroo is the best player on their roster he is basically the life of clg when he leave i am 75% sure clg will die.

At the end of the day I see TIP and TSM going on to semis and honestly even with Gate, Tip look like the scarier of the two. Also, both of the past two playoffs its been Liquid/Curse who take CLG out, not TSM.

I facepalm every time I see Twisted Fate locked in. In teamfights, he fires off a Q and fumbles around looking for a Gold Card while his team dies around him. I'd rather have an ult than a third summoner spell and an extra scrying orb any day.

In CLG vs Liquid, once again we see a TF ult into his death. It's a case of Pantheontitis, basically, only he doesn't even slow or apply damage when he lands in the middle of the enemy team with a bullseye on his head.

I think LCS teams see it as they would rather have a 5v4 fight bot and snowball out of it rather than a 4v4 bot with a mid-laner that has a damaging ult. The TF ulting to his death wasn't TF being a bad champ, it was Pobelter being stupid. Idk how accurate this is but TF has a 56% win rate in NA LCS in the past month. http://www.gosugamers.net/lol/pick-stats

When played well a TF can easily 100 to 0 an adc like what pobelter did at 29 minutes and was also the reason that they knew they could kill Xpecial as well. If you wanna blame that loss on TF, you should be pointing fingers at CLG's new link instead... Get it. new link . ahahahaha. :)

Interesting stat. I somehow only end up watching the games where he loses. Thanks for the input.

Trying to snowball off of a TP is risky business. Too often it feels like you can just play a little safe against him and then auto-win as soon as you get to group. I could be wrong, but I hate how weak TP ultimates are late-game.

dont get me wrong, i think that compared to power houses like azir or victor i would rather have the latter two but he fills a niche and imo he fills it well. if he can almost 100-0 an adc at 29 minutes he can definitely do it at 35 and thats an incredibly powerful tool. His ult also has other uses. Unlike a blue trinket you dont have to guess where the enemy team might be for things such as baron plays. and if your team is winning a team fight his ult all but guarantees additional kills on any carry running away.
