LCS Pro Tips: Lulu

Riot··4 votes·18,903 views
Support? Says who? Lulu may not have been designed for mid or top lane, but she has certainly found her niche there. Upon release, Lulu jumped around the map more than almost any other champion, with players taking her to almost every lane. Who can forget the days of on hit attack speed Lulu in the top lane? These days, she still doesn't see much play as a support as intended, but she makes for some pretty whimsical teamfights just the same. More recently, she has even become a priority pick for some players due to her ability to bully melee champions and deliver tons of utility in the mid to late game. We asked you for your favorite LCS Lulu players and we've tallied the votes! Fnatic's sOAZ took a big lead due to some of his dominating performances, followed by TSM's Dyrus and LMQ's Ackerman. Learn how to use all the colors and leave your lane opponents tasting purple with their #LCSProTips. Remember to vote for next week's champion, Kog'Maw!

1. sOAZ- 36.7% (1,074 Votes)

LCS Lulu Stats:
  • Games Played: 6
  • Games Won: 5
  • Win Rate: 83.3%
  • Average KDA: 9.5
Sometimes it's hard to avoid the urge to ult yourself unless you're like me (chronic support syndrome). sOAZ's tip is a great reminder that to maximize Lulu's utility, one of her most valuable attributes, you should ult your most powerful teammate. He also gives a bold tip on how to start off your item build with more rings than a middle aged divorcée.

2. Dyrus - 28.9% (846 Votes)

LCS Lulu Stats:
  • Games Played:5
  • Games Won: 2
  • Win Rate: 40%
  • Average KDA: 2.2
Dyrus' tips are mostly centered around the idea that as a top laner, Lulu is a pretty fragile pick. She's great at harassing from afar, forcing enemy champions away from the minion wave, and pushing, but you also need to be very careful not to get caught out before level 6. Respecting your lane opponent and junglers with a lot of crowd control is extremely important.

3. Ackerman - 13.5% (396 Votes)

I couldn't catch up with Ackerman on Twitter, but we still got his pro tip! "Take advantage of Lulu's passive, using her auto attack to constantly harass your opponent in the lane. As for Lulu's build, cooldown reduction is crucial for her, I recommend Athene's Unholy Grail, Ionian Boots of Lucidity, Lich Bane, Rabbadon's Deathcap, Zhonya's Hourglass, and Void Staff." Lulu's passive does a lot more damage than many players expect. As I mentioned at the start of the article, attack speed and on hit effects used to be very popular on Lulu because of her ability to do bonus magic damage with each auto. Ackerman's tip is a great way to bully your lane opponent, especially if they are a melee champion. LCS Lulu Stats:
  • Games Played: 7
  • Games Won: 5
  • Win Rate: 71.4%
  • Average KDA: 4.5

Community Tip

Choosing a tip this week was especially hard because there were great ones for top, mid, and support. In the end I went with one that could help you in any role.
Extending the range of your Glitterlance means that you can harass from a much safer distance, making this a great tip. Let us know what you think of the series and submit your own tips by using #LCSProTips. Vote for next week's Pro Tip to help decide which pros will weigh in on Kog'Maw! Katana is a Rioter in Esports who wishes that carrying from support was easier and that Morgana was never banned. You can follow her on Twitter @RiotKatana

Hey guys, when I pick the players on this list it's sometimes hard to choose who we include. Typically I go based off of number of games played in the LCS because this will give us pros with the most competitive experience. Because Lulu is most popular in the mid and top lanes at the moment, that's how this particular one played out.

I try to pick diverse roles so that we can hear from as many pros as possible, which is why last week was support players on Thresh!

A lot of these tips are the same. The glitterlance extension thing is huge for support. Buy a spellthief's edge and do more geometry than Vel'koz. Also, bait, bait, bait. For some reason, people always forget about her ult under the turret...

The "extend your glitterlance range" thing is something people always forget. I've gotten so many kills on recalling opponents under their turret because they forgot she could do this, as top and support.
