I'm glad RNG made it into quarters but I'm I may have missed this. RNG was 2-3 and TSM was 3-2. After the match both teams gained a 3-3 score. I'm too familiar with the tiebreaker rules at worlds but, was it because RNG beat TSM both weeks or was it something else?
RNG went 2-0 against TSM. Thats what decided the tie breaker.

A tiebreak game only occurs if the games are split 1-1 (or if there's a 3-way tie where each time beat one 2-0, then I'm not sure what Riot would do - was a legitimate threat for group A for a while).

This legitly feels bass ackwards to me. You're effectively punishing Team (A) for losing to Team (B) in groups when there's a tie in place. This isn't me being a salty TSM fanboy, (I hardly watch competitive) but no other competitive format that I know of, e-sports or otherwise has a tiebreaker rule like this one. I understand it. Okay, I get the whole fact RNG 2-0 TSM, but didn't SSG also 2-0 RNG themselves. As the number one seed in the group and both their opponents being 3-3, shouldn't SSG have some say in who should move on, or if there should be a tie-breaker? I mean Hell over the next few days even the casters seem disappointed in both RNG's overall performance and the lack of a tie breaker. I've also found a sport that ends in a tie, regardless of the previous results is stupid and insults both the players and the fans. TSM didn't play great but overall neither did RNG. Plus what do people really want to see SKT against a shaky RNG, or SKT vs TSM, no matter who shows up. The hype of the match alone is enough. I say let them FIGHT have the Tiebreaker.

RNG is 2-0 vs TSM. Tie break only applies if your teams are evenly matched. TSM and RNG are not. RNG >>>>>>>>> TSM.
