AHQ E-Sports Club was Taiwan's faint glimmer of hope last Worlds. Their one-game scare against China's Edward Gaming highlighted the individual skills of the island's players in the face of a long drought of international successes. Though the team's undergone some roster renovation in the intervening months -- as did seemingly everybody else across the world -- the core of that impressive Worlds team remains untouched: GreenTea remains king of the depths of bot lane, while Westdoor reigns over the region with no equal in the mid lane position. Backing up that core of talent are some familiar names to the Taiwanese community, if not in familiar places on the map. Chou "AN" Chun-An, formerly mid laner OhReal of the Taipei Snipers, has taken over GarnetDevil's place as AD Carry. Kang "MrAlbis" Chia-Wei returns to the team that made his name – not replacing Westdoor, who took over MrAlbis's former mid lane slot back in 2013, but backing him up in the jungle. These are drastic role changes for the players, but their initial performances against fellow Taiwanese teams have proven potent. MrAlbis, in particular, is already proving a great asset as the team's new mainspring. But these changes don't fundamentally change AHQ's identity: they're still relying on Westdoor's pool of assassins to punch a hole through the enemy's defenses, as it's incredibly rare for him to play anything else, no matter what the actual strategy's called for. For now, the raw power of their performance makes them the top team coming into the LMS, but it's not a position undisputed. The Taipei Assassins, Yoe Flash Wolves, and Hong Kong Esports are breathing down their necks, and behind them is an entire split's worth of contenders.
