Residency Ruling- Making a 3rd Spot for Longtime Resident

Many people are upset about this ruling (including me) considering that it was pretty out of the blue and really screwed over players/organizations that had made long term plans based on the original rule that Riot set forth (Rush and C9 most notably). For Riot to just change the rule without any prior warning and basically blindside a lot of players is so unfair. I love Riot and I love LOL Esports, but this decision I think is really not right. Many people have mentioned already that Riot could make a third slot on teams: 2 Imports, 2 Homegrown Talent, and the 3rd to be a long time resident, allowing those players who would have been just about to complete the 2 year rule and who had made serious decisions based on this going through as all previous riot information had stated, to not have the rug pulled out from under them. Is there some way to challenge this decision based on community support? Because I know many NA fans are really unhappy at the way Riot has settled this and I would like to communicate that to them.

I usually find myself siding with riot in most things, but not this. Riot allowed all of the current teams to be grand fathered in when they announced the rule requiring all players except two be domestic players. It seems wrong to have some players who have not been here for 4 years be considered US regional players while others just months away will now be considered foreign for 2 additional years.

I have absolutely no problem with players like Rush who have been here for so long to be considered a US player. Riot needs to treat this like the original team rule and grandfather in all existing players to the old rule.

I didn't know there had been such a ruling, could you link to it?

It's disappointing this thread isn't getting much attention because of the relatively tame title.

After reading through the Reddit I do understand why they're doing it and even agree with Riot's stance for the most part. As a C9 fan tho today is a sad day for me.

Thought it should have been 4 years in the first place but they really should grandfather in the current ones like they did with the past rule.
