Okay wow.

I've never watched sports games much, let alone e-sports, but I got caught up in Worlds. It's a lot of fun to watch, can't believe this is the same thing I have been playing almost every day for about 5 years. Such amazing plays, the commentators, the crowd, I am enjoying the shit out of myself.

Finished work, rushed home, got the end of the C9 vs FW game. With the game timer nearing 70 minuted, the crowd chanting, the tension, this is easily the best I have ever seen so far. The ending was nuts - I had a feeling they'd come back and win, but wow, it came so close. The whole time, all I could think about was jesus, if they actually pull it off, they will lose their shit. Seeing how INTZ reacted when they beat EDG, they jumped from their seats, hugged each other, it was so nice to see.

Yet, the disappointment is real. When they won, all alone in my apartment I screamed, I cheered, it was a sick moment. Camera pans to C9, they look like they just lost the game. They slowly stand up, no happiness, no excitement, just another day at the office, they almost looked disappointed. For a second I thought it was FW (I'd be so mad if I lost that game, this is fucking worlds yo) , but no, these guys were the winners. I get it, this is groups stage, not the finals, but still guys, you're putting on a fucking show you've waited the whole year for, can you...have emotions? Even the crowd sounded like they were a bit astonished by their lack of reaction.

Jensen's interview, first words: Yeah we figured out a lot of the things we have to work on. Yes, I agree with that, but like...there is a moment to discuss these things, and its not in front of a wild crowd! No need to flaunt it but damn

Am I the only one that's thinking that way?

True, but it doesn't matter anymore, they won it! Work on shit during the off time you now have, but enjoy the moment ffs. There's so many people watching you, that was just so disheartening to see. Do you not agree?

Soooo what? It made for a sick game for the fans, they won it, they know what to work on...that seems almost childish to me to react like that. If you are disappointed every time you are not as good as you should be, or as you know you are, you will be hella sad. It's a very negative way to see things if you ask me

You want them to bring out champagne shake it up and spray it all over each other on stage? You want them to break out the confetti and balloons and throw it around? Where's the gatorade at, they should pour it over their coach and all their computers. Get real man. There's still plenty of games to go, and they are far from getting out of groups.

C9 was disappointed they played so incredibly poorly. No one would feel good after that win. They only won because FW screwed up even more than they did. That's like coming in 1st in the special Olympics or winning the spirit award.

I disagree so much with your point. Okay, they didn't play to their best, it happens to everyone. The other team fucked up more than they did, but it made for an exciting game, which is now over and they have the W? Be like that when you're in your post-game meeting, not in front of everyone, including the cameras. The crowd was just CHANTING for you!! Do you think they care that you fucked up many times during the game? NO! It was a sick comeback, they won, enjoy it, make it worth for the fan, and do whatever the fuck you want afterwards, under closed curtains, no?

"didn't play to their best" Lul. Oh yes, it happens to everyone, EXCEPT THE TEAMS THAT GET THROUGH TO THE FINALS. You know, the teams that win the event and stuff. FW had the game in the bag, but the refused to pull the trigger. The stupid thing? SO DID C9! So many missed opportunities for C9 to pull some clutch teamfights with a good Shockwave Maelstrom engage, and BOTH Jensen and Impact pussy out and decide to watch towers fall. Then Jensen walking towards blue buff while the baron is going down. Whoops, didn't need that buff. That turned into 2, and then Metoes was like "MUST HAVE GROMP!" and gets caught. Then FW turns on garbo mode and can't get more than 1 inhib off a double buff or close some nexus turrets with 3 inhibs down. The Game of Throws! No emotion? you crazy son! They were hella exhausted and frustrated. FW should have won that game before 40 min. C9 was just donated a free win. After that game Id be disappointed that I played like shit for the first half. C9 Got lucky and thats that. I wouldnt be happy with a win that I didnt earn either.

EDIT: This game took me back to my baseball days. We were playing a game against the second to last team in the league when we were top 2 of 8. We nearly lost but thanks to our cleanup hitter, we scored on an RBI on a ball batted to the fence. With only one run over a team so shitty, we got 15 laps around the outer fence. We won, but no one was happy with it. Its extremely hard to put so much effort, time, and preparation into something to not even meet your expectations of yourself.

If you had lost, I agree with you. But you won it. It made you stronger, and you learned from it.

There's a way to see anything positively, and in this case, that's it. I dunno what else to say man. There are much worse things in life than not playing your best and still winning, can you at least look happy a little bit that you did get the fucking W? Imagine you lost that, you would've broke down crying? God fucking dammit man

I understand your point in that winning is a good thing in all logical sense. But in reality, the emotions they had was just that. A forced smile isn't a happy one. Its one thing to play a 70min game and it be a hard fight from both teams, but its another to play like shit and win based on the others mistakes. I think this is a common thing to see in sports in general. Errors are errors ands its tilting. This is the type of thing were the team will sink their eyes into the ground as their coach say "What the hell were you thinking?"

I get where you're going with that, and while I agree, do it 10 mins later, when you're alone with your team in the locker room. Did you hear the crowd? The announcers? Everyone was having an amazing time because they won, and that was unbelievably anti-climatic. I get what everyone is saying but this isn't a summer split game, this is worlds, there are thousands of people watching you. They're not watching your character in game anymore, they're watching you as a person, pop out of that computer, looking all disappointed because you weren't as good as you're supposed to be, and you won a ''free game''. I'm not saying pop the champagne as others might seem to think, but at the very least look happy. This is a W. You would've gone 0-2 had you fucked up just a little more. You are in your home region (NA), these are your fans watching you, cheering for you.

Tbh, I don't feel like cheering for them anymore, at all. That reaction said it all

As I said, don't brag about it. Don't "flex nuts". But show some goddamn emotions to that crowd who just paid money, traveled to get to the game and was chanting for your win! Man, what a shitty display of who they are tbh. Did you see INTZ reaction? Yes, they pulled something much better than what C9 did, but man did they win my heart. If I'd be any of these people in the crowd, I'd be like wtf are these guys

Aight, getting downvoted, I guess people don't really understand where I'm getting at. Compare this to a sports playoff game. A quarterfinals, since this is only groups stage. Say one soccer team played much shittier than they should have, but still beat the other team that played even worse. Do you think they'd go out the field disappointed, being like damn we fucked up at least now we know what to work on? No, they'd still look happy and put on a show for the fking crowd thats there for them. Ofc in the locker room they would react much differently, but you have thousands of people looking at you, you're gonna react like that after such a game?? One that almost broke the record for length? I get it, you're exhausted, but this isn't a hockey game, it's played with a goddamn keyboard and a mouse while you're sitting.

This world truly disappoints me at times
