My Summer Split Predictions and Why

The Summer Split is upon us and its time to lay down the predictions for the season leading up to worlds!

  1. TeamSoloMid TSM finished first last split and none of the other teams have made any huge changes to beat them. Plus TSM now has Doublelift which is arguably the best ADC in NA so their team has improved after all. Also with the addition of Doublelift some the shot call duty will split between Bjerg and DL again which in my opinion frees up Bjerg to focus more on his play and be more aggressive like we have known him to be, he is NA Faker after all. I think their biggest contenders to take this spot is C9 and CLG which I will explain later.
  2. Cloud 9 C9 has the same team as last split and they made it to the finals of the Spring Split Playoffs and took TSM to 5 games. I think besides the inconsistency in top laners, (we never know who is going to play) they seem rock solid. They have superstars in every position to match TSMs powerhouse all-star team. C9 tends to perform better than TSM Internationally but TSM has the edge in regional play. Sneaky and Smoothies bot laning have improved which was seen as a weak point before internationally. C9 has the macro game though and actually I would argue is better than TSMs. C9 also tends to play many different comps which I find to be good so people cannot figure you out. But all in all they are a solid 2nd.
  3. Counter Logic Gaming This is a meta for this team compared to last split. They have a great macro game normally, they abuse the split push and rotations of lanes pretty well. The problem to me last split was that the meta was not designed well for them. Xmithie was not a carry jungler and Darshan is a carry top laner. But last split Tanks were the top lane pretty much all split and jungles were Khazix Rengar LeeSin like every game so with Dardoch who is a more aggressive jungler than Xmithie but also I think more all around better this will be huge for their macro style play. Also the play making supports are back for aphromoo which is going make this team a huge threat. We cannot forget that mid lane meta has Taliyah AurelionSol TwistedFate available if CLG wants to give huhi his best performing mid lane roamers.
  4. Phoenix 1 The same team as before basically so expect more of the same from this team if you watched last split. They play around the bottom side of map a lot with the Spring Split MVP Arrow and then Ryu. My problem with them this split is that top lane is high carry environment and that Zig is more of a "plays for team" type top laner and not a "its all me" top laner. Carry top laners are going to be in meta so the carry top laners are going to be important to have but ultimately they have good or decent players across the board and can take it to the teams that are not above them. I figure 4th is where they belong but honestly I can see them falling to 5th or 6th if they aren't careful.
  5. Flyquest Showed that last split being old is not necessarily a bad thing ;). They bring some unconventional picks to the table and that makes them kind of a wildcard. This split though they are actually better with the addition of wildturtle. Even with all the memes wildturtle is still a top 5 ADC in NA so the addition is solid making them a definite playoff team if they perform near last splits level again. Hai has the craziest and most "off the wall" type shot calling that always seems to be right which is a hugely underrated attribute to have especially in the mid lane. Flyquest though lacks mechanical skills that the teams above have so its hard to move them any higher.
  6. Immortals This is hugely different position for this team than I have seen from any other predictions I have seen so here is why I have them in 6th for the last playoff spot. They now have mechanically players across the top side of the map with flame, xmithie and 200 iq pobelter. The bot lane was hugely improved by the end of last split. Also with carry tops being back in the meta flame can handle more of the carry duty in the solo lanes and let pobelter play that more supportive mid lane type role he plays quite often or use to when he was considered a top 3 mid laner in NA. There is a lot of possibilities with this team but I think they are going to perform well.
  7. Team Liquid Besides Goldenglue in the mid lane the rest of the players on this team are solid mechanically. They have lourlo, reignover, piglet and matt which are all proven. I think if this team plays to their side lanes they are going to be a very good team but if they don't they will fall very fast. They need to provide protection for piglet and I think if lourlo who can play carries top and reignover who is known for more tank jungle types can hit it off this split with the new meta they can be a huge force to be reckon with, but with inconsistencies and the lack of a solid mid lane I'm skeptic to put them any higher with the importance of map control and mid laners on a team with this meta.
  8. Team DIgnitas I feel like this team just lacks the bot side of the map. Ssumday is an all star top laner on any good team, chaser is solid and keane is average but LOD and big are nothing impressive and hold this team back. They are also badddddddd at macro compared to every team above them. I think the only way they are higher is if keane, chaser or Ssumday just carry so hard its ridiculous. There isn't a whole lot to say they are just not impressive besides that.
  9. Echo Fox Another team where the top side of the map is good with looper, Akkadian, and froggen and then the bot side of the map is very very baddd keith might be the worst in NA at ADC. They will always have to hard carry to win games. Good thing is that Anivia is back in meta so maybe its possible. Other than this I don't see any potential of growth except with Akkadian since he is relatively fresh still. They are still not the worst team in NA though in my opinion :D.
  10. Team Envy This team just needs to ride the backs of Lira to the top. Lira is a very good jungle. I see him being all star caliber on any of the top teams. He may have communication problems or whatever but his mechanics are very good like I was so surprised last split pulling off crazy plays. Besides the former this team needs to focus on beating the teams from 6-9 because if they can make it to next season without getting relegated then they might be protected if the organization decides to invest. I know this sad, but they are not good on this stage. They are outclassed. Sorry NV fans.

NV - Can't close out games, every lane wins the gold lead, advantage and EXP but loses mid/late game.

EF- Placed them 10th in the week earlier prediction but they might actually be good, 2 years is a decent time to actually try to be good.

TL - I didn't count the towers they had vs CLG but it was like 8 or something, they STILL get 1-2 early kills and still have 0 objective focus, 10TH in every objective last split even with D-Lift and the Piglet mid/adc swaps.

DIG - ? for me, Keane is ok, Xpecial is ok, Lod is ok, Chaser is decent and Ssumday can farm for 40 years but when 75% of the map needs his help 24/7 farming for super late game only goes so far.

C9 - RAY or Impact ?? Impact carried us to NA Finals, carried us to Worlds, carried us to QTs. Yeah, let's just keep on playing Ray and lose.

FQ - Oh god placing them 4th was a huge mistake, watching these players who are good don't get me wrong but it's like watching the Colts when they had Gore at RB and Johnson at WR when the rest of the NFL has these younger players but FQ has these 5-6 year players who has to be exhausted through the years.

TSM - I mean 17-1 is a tall order, and Turtle "helped" TSM win Spring, but now the attention and critiquing of fans will be looking at what D-Lift can do because the score is 1-0 Turtle so far.

IMT - Better in skill - Maybe, better environment than before with Dardoch - Yes. CLG, C9 2013-14 have shown what a group of friends and calm heads can do in the NA scene.

CLG - Starting off 2-0 isn't bad all considering CLG tends to play poorly in the first half of every split but seems to rebound in the second, so that only shows this team can still do some great things.

P1 - With Inori P1 has 39.6 min games which in turn helps Arrow become this hyper carry but when Inori is like 25-31 in his career you tend to just stay seated with this team instead of jumping for joy.
