5v5 teams
Will someone explain to me how relegation in the lcs will work now without ranked 5's being a thing anymore?

I think your post is speaking in regards to R5 teams and relegation, both which are not tied to one another. As AzureDragoon said, Relegation occurs between the 9th and 10th (5th from each group for EU) LCS and 1st and 2nd in the Challenger Series playoffs (excluding sister teams for NA). Ranked 5 teams used to be a determining qualification into the Challenger Series. Now it is an open qualifier tournament between eligible teams for the two CS spots once held by the 5th and 6th place team of the previous split.
Similar to what it's been for a few splits now:
NA LCS: 9th and 10th place teams must compete in the Promotion/Relegation tournament against NA Challenger teams
EU LCS: Same as above, except it's the 5th Place teams from Groups A and B of the LCS.
