What can I say about the League of Legends esports community? You're awesome. You create some of the coolest stuff out there, and it helps everyone else get closer to the game and the competition. That’s why we want to help you out! Every week, I'm going to round up some of the best interviews, infographics, tier lists--you name it--and put it front and center on Lolesports.com. Have tips? Just drop me a line at [email protected] and I'll take a look! If it’s awesome and esports-related, we want it here.
Daniel 'Spellsy' Biery and Derek 'Kathix' Adams ran an excellent analysis of parity in the LCS for onGamers. By breaking down the win rate of each team in slightly favored to heavily favored match ups, they look at how many upsets there have been in each region over time.
I'm loving these Two-Second Summaries of LCS matches from LoL eSportspedia's River. If you didn't catch the games from Week 9 and don't have time to go back and watch VODs, this is the fastest way to get the gist of what turned the match in the winner's favor.
Chris 'Asolitaryllama' Blanchard ran another Fantasy LCS prediction piece for Cloth5 this week. LMQ and Fnatic topped their respective regions last week, tying with each other at 31 points. Check out the full article for how this translates into Week 10!
Interviews
There were two long form interviews that I thought deserved a spotlight this week. Both of them are a big time commitment, clocking in at 52:39 and 51:28, but they're definitely worth watching. Duncan 'Thooorin' Shields' interview with CJ Entus Blaze top laner, Flame, hit all the right notes. Flame discusses dealing with disappointment throughout his career, players he has respected and feared the most, and much more. He even caps off the interview with an unprompted statement about pro players sticking with their comfort picks instead of learning the flavor of the month champions. While many players are criticized for not being able to play the champions strongest in the current meta, Flame wishes that more teams would learn to play to the strengths of their individual members and be more considerate to one another's abilities. Curse released a more personally-focused piece about their mid laner Voyboy. He speaks not only about his relatively long career in League esports, but also about his family upbringing and how that influenced his life decisions. As one of the few original pro players still in the competitive circuit, his story is an incredibly interesting one.Videos
DeoNade has compiled an awesome video list of some of the top plays named after pros. From the iconic Scarra ward and xPeke backdoor to the mind blowing how-could-he-ever-land-that Madlife hook, this montage is a great trip down memory lane. With so many possibilities, I hope DeoNade makes at least one more of these.Articles
