10 thoughts going into Week 8

Riot··1 votes·9,431 views

Here's this week's 10 thoughts from @meanmisterkien!

There's still a chance that one of the bottom teams could make a run to the playoffs. There's always a chance. But it's really slim at this point. We could very well lock in all six teams this week. What do you think -- are the top 6 in for sure?

What did we learn from last week?

You sure as Hell better not give Cody Jhin

ChompyWulf4 votes

Or let Pobelter play Corki.

I have two thoughts to add this week.

  1. The question of who got the better deal out of the Dardoch, Xmithie trade has been answered. Immortals. Hands down.
  2. Why would Dardoch go back ot liquid and why would they even have him when he said this before week 5?

"Thought on Liquid this season, I mean they’re just hot garbage… just like always." “They’re just real bad, they have a lot of issues and none of them are getting fixed it seems. “I don’t have a lot of respect for Liquid as an organisation, or players, or team.”

Well no one is accusing Liquid of making great decisions this season. Plus they are probably the only team that will touch Dardoch anymore.

TrollFan011 votes

Probably not so much as touch him as desperately NEED him.

Even then, I'm confused as to how they actually benefit longterm out of this (much like what I've thought of them for the entire season). Assuming they're going to get one of the franchise spots next split, it'd theoretically make more sense to nab rookies for each of your positions kinda like what CLG did, as if they do well you can use them immediately and if they do poorly you can always stick them in the "mandatory" academy league. While Dardoch may be a slight upgrade over inori short-term (I say slight, as they're both kinda feast or famine-style junglers who most of the time will either hard-carry the game or go 0-6 and make the game unwinnable), this move only actually makes sense if one of two things are true: either TL is going for the delta fox approach and trying to make this one giant publicity stunt ("watch TL, where every lane is russian roulette") or Steve has truly gone off the "Deep end" and is trying to kill his LCS team from the inside similar to what Vince McMahon did with the NWO back in 2001-2002.

Steve is Vince. That's my choice

True that.

Dardoch wanted to lose to Immortals again in the regular season rather than the playoffs.

HEHEHE. Ironic he left Immortals because he didn't think they were committed enough to making worlds and now he's on a team that is all but out of worlds.

ChompyWulf1 votes

Did I miss something? Liquid hasn't made playoffs either Spring or Summer, they couldn't possibly get into Worlds in any way unless tons of teams were murdered.

Miror B1 votes

Which if you think about it, isn't exactly a longshot. While I doubt TL will exist as an LCS franchise beyond this split (as they've been mostly mediocre during their tenure and haven't qualified for worlds ever), the fact steve has been able to nab basically any player he dare so choose kinda makes me think that a "hitman" is within the realm of possibility.

What is with TSM and new patch nerfs? It always happens. Well luckily it's out of the way and TSM can still get 1st.

ChompyWulf1 votes

TSM might get #1, but it's unlikely. They would need IMT to drop two losses while going perfect themselves. Right now the tiebreaker favors TSM if they can end with a tie, but IMT has a more favorable schedule for the next two weeks.

TrollFan012 votes

You make a good point but don't forget about DIG. They could beat IMT and even if IMT wins the rest of its games and TSM wins all of theirs then it's Summer 2016 all over again.

ChompyWulf1 votes

IMT's two major hurdles left are NV and DIG, while TSM has NV and CLG to worry about. If Omar can deliver good teamwork and without Dardoch being a distraction, that's an upgrade.

I think both IMT and TSM go 3-1 the nest two weeks, and we wait for a playoff finale between the two.

TrollFan012 votes

DIG may have lost to C9 bit they're on a roll so they can beat IMT. No one thought they'd best TSM so keep ths5 in mind. NV beat IMT too so thats up in the air.

Omar is good but he hasn't won much or gone against TSM.

IMT has 3 different players since last summer...

You read the context right? It'll be the same standings where TSM edges IMT out. TSM is IMT's kyrptonite

  1. Flame, Xmithie, Cody Sun, and Olleh are all new. Pobelter is the only carryover. Plus they have a new coaching staff too. Sorry but those posting it will be just like last year are people that don't know what they're talking about and thus aren't worth paying any attention to. Last summer Huni was slumping, the top tank meta came into being and the radical change to prevent lane swapping which immortals did better than anyone really hurt them. None of those reasons will be the reason immortals loses this time if that happens.
TrollFan011 votes

Called it. DIG beat IMT

ChompyWulf1 votes

Dig did get the win, but in a way IMT kinda beat themselves. They got sloppy and threw game 1 hard. Credit to Dig for taking advantage, but Imt should have won.

BrainMumbler2 votes

Can someone explain the joke next to DIG for me?

TheeBull1 votes

Basically DIG mocking that prediction he made

RiotMean Mister Kien3 votes

It's a reference to the "Spongebob mocking" meme. It's pretty dumb, to be honest.

...

I'm pretty dumb.

leaguewut1 votes

I thought you were implying that TSM's season was a bit of a roller coaster. Maybe I gave you too much credit :P

BrainMumbler2 votes

I've made enough dumb jokes in my time that I can't judge. But thank you for the explanation!

I instantly loved this just for the great meme

Miror B1 votes

It's truly nice to see they adressed the whole TL Mickey thing (as it's probably the funniest possible move they could have made, trying to find consistency at mid-lane by bringing in arguably the most inconsistent player of all time). While I don't think the move will pay off in the longrun, short-term it should provide entertainment value especially in the "4-korean-mids" promo tournament.

Mental Chaos1 votes

Consistent Mickey is a force to be reckoned with though, Papa Smithy himself said that when Mickey is having a good day, he can be evenly as good with crown/faker. But then again he does have those random games where he just str8 up ints LOL
