NA LCS Players from NA

How many of the players in the NA LCS roster are from NA? Is it still above 50%? Are there any NA players on teams in the other leagues?

NA players are 30 out of 50 Every team has 2 imports except TSM that has 3 (Bjergsen being grandfathered and thus counting as NA resident for the 3/5 purpose) and CLG 1 There is no NA player playing in any other major region, probably there is someone in LAN

how in the dick does bjergsen count as an NA player? the fact that TSM gets 3 foreign players is retarded.

The rule kinda make sense. If a player has stayed so long in your region is fair that you can consider him as a guy that can trasnfer freely in your region, as the 3/5 rule basically is aimed to avoid an excessive amount of transfers of guys from stronger to weaker regions The problem is when you region is so weak that not even these kind of rules can't protect it that much, because your own grown players can't even surpass B or C tier players from other regions, and as more time pass, so much players got grandfathered that you can count them as NA player and start importing other guys

I thought the point of the rule is to have actual NA players representing NA in international competition. with that idiotic rule, in a couple years you could make an entire "NA" team out of foreign players.

The rule try to find a compromise for everyone A guy that stayed so long in a region become really a familiar figure for the fans of that region, so being able to field as resident guys that have been in a region for a very long time (because 4 splits is a lot of time compared to the average career of pro) is a good thing both for players and org On the other side, it also protect the players of the region by being overwhelmed by imports, as long as they can beat at least the low tier players from the other regions that then doesn't become worthy importing...

The fact that there are so much imported players actually is entirely NA scene fault because, quite honestly, there are quite few imports that shouldn't have make the cut first but instead they did because NA dired out of options to pick above them at a certain point No way guys like Huhi, Alex Ich, one or both of Smitty J/Kirei, the two Impulse imports, maybe/probably Kfo should have make the cut at first for various reasons (low skills, complete lack of competitive experience, a mixture of both, etc...), but, taking aside from a moment the Impulse situation, these guy just took a spot in a team because what were the alternatives to them? For example,Alex Ich was slowly heading toward complete irrelevance in EU, even at CS level, while in EU he carried a team to a win in promotion as sub in Spring and then procedeed to carry another team to win CS in Summer? Alex has had huge accomplishment in the past, but there is a serious problem if in NA he has been much more relevan than what he was in his last EU days, and would have been at least an above average mid tier in LCS without the influx of money and imports in mid lane that happened in this offseason - in the context of last season NA LCS mid lane he would have not ranked lower than 6th at worst, and this putting him below all the guys that would have been a close call to put him either ahead/below him, and also counting the banned XWX that would have not been back this season -

How long do you have to live somewhere to claim it as your country?

For LCS it's 2 years, iirc

IRL... I dunno. I guess however amount of time it takes to get a citizenship?

So, you should only be able to play in NA if you're white and have a bumpkin accent.

Potential NA LCS players: Pr0lly, when he's trying to sound like a hick.

The thing is, if I decided to move to Europe, I could eventually apply for citizenship/dual-citizenship which declares that I am of French/English/whatever the fuck places are over in Europe nationality. Nationality, descent, and race are all different. Nationality is the one that matters, descent is the one salty EU fans think matters, race is the one trolls like to point out when there are five Asian Americans on a team.

Way to bring race into it prick.

Pretty sure we just want people who legally reside within the country as citizens to represent NA, since they're actually NA players.

...which, you know, Bjergsen does, and soon many more "foreign" players will. A lot will decide they want to live in America and represent our country, others won't. I think it's fine as long as the organization represents the country.

Unless you're Native American, everyone in this country is a foreigner. : ) This country is such a melting pot, don't act like we don't have EU people here for the last few hundred years.

Yes, thank you. :) That's exactly how I feel.

no they should only be allowed to play in NA if they've spent most of their lives in NA. rofl you aren't an American just because you come over here and play a video game for a couple years

Then go to the American government and complain, because if you studied US history and lived in America for a bit, you could also be an American citizen. Regardless, who the fuck are YOU to qualify somebody as an American? You aren't an American just because your mother decided to have a baby.

Look, I'm getting mad, that wasn't meant to be so directed, but clearly we differ on the opinion of what qualifies somebody as an American. I'm of the belief that anybody who wants to join us should be able to, clearly you aren't. I personally see it as intolerant, so maybe that's why I got a little salty, but obviously you don't feel the same way.

All I'm saying is that playing a video game to entertain millions while representing our nation is more than most people will do for our country in their lifetimes.

By simply thinking you could have answered you 50% question.. Cus of the fact that you cant bring more than 2 imports in a team.

Ale non è male1 votes

You technically can. Some team could have signed Keane, dexter or Santorin (just to make some name) and count them as NA resident so theeorically you could have more than 2 imports per team

Maszii1 votes

Keane/Santorin are imports to. Only Dexter is not i believe

Ale non è male1 votes

Keane/Santorin were plaing in NA before the rule, they counted as ENR too at the time and could declare NA residency like dexter

Thank you for pointing out where that's stated. Most helpful post.
