I want to be able to spend more money on content to boost Worlds Prize Pool.
Last year riot introduced the first event where our money went partially to the Worlds Championship regarding buying the Championship Ashe skin, which was approximately $10.00. $2.50 went to charity, and an additional $2.50 went to the Worlds. According to posts I could find online, Riot improved the Worlds prize pool by approximately $2,350,000 and if that $2.50 per skin purchase is correct, that means over 900,000 skins were purchased. That is absolutely insane to me, but I can't help but think what if this wasn't just tied specifically to a skin that a large portion of the community may not like?
I love League of Legends, and I've personally played it since the closed beta release back in April 2009. I was barely out of high school back then but now I have a "big people" job and am 27. This game has been a huge part of my life as I have spent nearly 33% of my life playing it now. That's ridiculous! The pro scene is really how I get to stay involved these days. I'd like to be more involved.
I know this gets posted here a lot, and I don't necessarily think it's perfect for League, but a lot of people bring up the DotA2 Compendium here. It was a once, or multi-time purchase which gave you the capability to earn unique skins, complete challenges for other rewards, and had a tier system. I don't think LoL has to do something similar, but I would like to be able to do more than just buy a one time skin for 1350 RP. Maybe some sort of Twitch+LoL purchase that based on pro games you follow, or the more you play and level up you get a global discount on all RP (and/or BE) purchases? Perhaps some sort of Chroma incentive tied into Worlds purchase with tiers involved? I don't know, I just am bringing the idea up.
I know some people may see this as something unpopular to some, but it's something that's been on my mind for a year now and I thought I'd finally post about it. Up front, I don't even care what it would really be that Riot adds, but I just want to support the pro players who put so much effort into the game and I'd like all the participants who make it to Worlds to walk away with some substantial money for their effort, and we can do that.
