Gotta say, this is probably the most deserving advancement out of the groups for any NA team ever. On paper C9 were easily the weakest team in this group, but they pulled through, surprising everyone. Big props to Vitality, they really didn't deserve to finish this tournament just after a group stage, one of the biggest heartbreakers in probably the Worlds history. Too bad GenG didn't manage to beat RNG, to force that tie-breaker, and possibly allow both NA and EU seeds get out of the groups. Still, both C9 and Vit showed today, that RNG can be defeated, with KT being historically disappointment (and I say it as a KT fan), there's actually a chance (surprisingly) for western teams this year (regardless of the fact, that those were bo1 wins).

I don't think anyone expected this. This was the group of death. The world champs and the favorite. Clearly C9 and Vitality were playing for 3rd place. Just goes to show. Dispense of any preconceived notions because there are not enough inter regional games or tournaments to make any sort of definitive statements. really aren't enough inter regional games to make any definitive declarations. And clearly, we should dispense of any notion that if a team struggles a bit in play in, they're necessarily going to get stomped in groups. LOL is not transitive.
