Oh please stop saying Faker is doing his best

Because he ISN'T. Faker this year is not the Faker I saw in last 2 years. He did make mistakes and some of them caused his team the lost. In game 1 he picked Cassiopia into Malzahar, a clear winning matchup. If he is doing his best he should be able to smash Crown in lane, but in fact he is losing in trade against Crown because he stands in voidlings as if nothing. Thus, he did not apply enough pressure to mid lane and let other lanes of SSG take over the game. In second game he did his best I am not denying it. But in third game he got caught up at least twice, and once with him and Bang walking into Cho with no backup. That is not something you expect from the best player of the world. It is not underperforming of just his teammates that caused SKT the lose, it is the bad performance from their entire team.

We call it getting old.

You should reword this.

Faker was trying his best, therefore doing his best possible to win, but I agree with you he has played better overall in the past. His new best isn't as good as his old.

He's getting older. Maybe he hit his peak already?

I think he has peaked. At his peak he was able to take really interesting and unusual picks into the midlane and win with them. No, not just win, but carry with them. No one could predict what faker would pick. No one wanted to play against his Leblanc.

Blame the meta. Blame the coach. But I wanted to see Faker pick up a carry champion in game two, not Huni. Hell, I wanted Faker on a real carry all tournament long and we basically never got to see that. The same way we never see Bjergsen on them either.

Has it really gotten too risky to play that style of mid-centric game? Who better to delete an overpowered ADC than an assassin? Who better to burst them down? It might've taken some interesting bans, but who knows, maybe it'd have worked. We'll never know. But we do know Huni on Yasuo was not the answer.

Faker is not the problem. Firstly, Faker is not the GOAT we all liked and loved. Faker is still the best, but the high level korean mid laners have learnt how to deal with him. This means that Faker will no longer carry as he did before. Now he needs a good team too to win. For example, Blank wtf boi, he dies 3 times in jg and you know that 1 kill in e-Sports is a LOT. Well, having fed jg or mid or whatever its not that easy to deal with right? If you didnt understand the fact I said hes not GOAT I mean that while he was 80% good and others were 50%, now he's 90% and others 75%.

Secondly, if you check his match history in LCK you can see that he's picking comps like galio, orianna and stuff like that. Why? Because they want him to give up the carry role and take the supportive one which he's not used to, and he sometimes like you mentioned makes mistakes. After watching Faker is not that good to play this role, they test a new mid laner, Pirean, whose play is more supportive than Faker's. But still. they did even worse without Faker.

Don't blame Faker, he's doing his duty.
