The fruits of his labor: Kiwikid

With a new season comes new stars and new stories. Here is one of the players you should look out for in 2015! Team: Dignitas Region: North America Position: Support For the first time in his career as a support player, Kiwikid will not be backing up his long-time partner in crime, Imaqtpie. Instead, he’ll have a whole new AD carry to take under his wing: Korean import Core JJ. Any time a support has to adjust to a new lane partner, there will be a period of adjustment. For Kiwikid and Core JJ, that adjustment will be even more difficult. Between a slight language barrier and Kiwi’s inexperience playing professionally with anyone other than Imaqtpie, the pair are up for a challenge coming into the 2015 season. Kiwi, however, seems to have a good plan to overcome that. “Since playing with CoreJJ, I've been trying to transition by just getting to know him better,” he says. It might sound simple, but the pair pair’s relationship is going to be key to Kiwikid’s performance this season. As a player who relies more on coordination with his lane partner than individual skill to win matchups, he’s going to have to meld quickly. “First, I started by duo-queueing with him and letting him take the lead to see how he plays the lane,” he says of the process so far. “He plays aggressive--great! Something I enjoy/prefer and also something I've learned about him. I've been taking small steps and just trying to match his movements.” Interestingly, he says that the language barrier hasn’t been too much of a problem. “CoreJJ's English is actually decent and since he isn't shy… We also have a translator when we need the utmost clear communication -- but it hasn't been used frequently for me and JJ.” With a brand-new lane to carry, Kiwikid has an opportunity to break out from the Kiwipie shell that he’s been under for the past year.
