The Challenger Series (CS) Qualifiers are coming to a close and the final teams will face off to be part of the Challenger Series this Summer. Catch all the Finals action this week to see what teams will begin their journey toward the LCS and what teams will return to the Ranked 5s ladder.
What’s the format?
The Challenger Series Summer Qualifier Finals will take place on June 9-10 with the final four teams from
Qualifiers. Two teams remain from each of the
Qualifiers Group Stages and the winner of each Group will go on to become part of the Summer Challenger Series in their region. All Finals are played in a Best of 3 format.
Who’s competing?
Europe:
- Team Dignitas EU vs. Mousesports (Group A)
- Denial Esports vs. Ex Nihilo (Group B)
- Loser of Group A vs. Loser of Group B (3rd place)

North America:
- Magnetic vs. Misfits (Group A)
- CLG Black vs. Cloud9 Tempest (Group B)
- Loser of Group A vs. Loser of Group B (3rd place)
Why are we doing a 3rd Place match?
Two teams, one in EU and one in NA, are no longer eligible to participate in the Challenger Summer Split so the winner of the 3rd place match will also qualify for the regular season of the Challenger Series Summer Split for their region.
In Europe, MYM decided not to claim their prequalified spot for Summer Split. In North America,
Fusion could not field a roster so they are not eligible for the Challenger Series.
What teams are returning to CS?
Spring EU CS teams, Reason Gaming, Copenhagen Wolves Academy and Gamers2, did not qualify for LCS but prequalify for the EU CS Summer Split. MYM decided not claim their prequalified EU CS spot.
Final Five, a NA CS Spring team, earned a spot to join the NA Summer Challenger Series. Winterfox and Team Coast, former LCS teams were recently relegated to Summer Challenger Series from the Spring LCS. As stated in a
recent ruling, Fusion could not
field three of the five members on their original roster so they forfeit their NA CS spot.
What’s on the line?
The Winners of Group A, Group B and the 3rd place matches in the Summer Qualifiers will secure spots to participate in the regular season of Summer Challenger Series.
How do I catch the action?
The NA and EU CS Qualifier Finals Group A and B matches will be broadcasted live on Lolesports. The EU Group matches begin on Tuesday, June 9 at 6pm CEST / 9am PDT. NA Group matches start at 6pm PDT / 3am CEST on Wednesday, June 10.
The Qualifier Final 3rd place will be available as VODs. The EU CS 3rd place match takes place on Wednesday, June 10 and the NA CS 3rd place match will happen on Tuesday, June 16.
