In the second half of the Round of 8, Team Coast will be facing off against Team Green Forest for their shot at the glorious circuit points they need to get into LCS! Unfortunately, Cloud 9 Tempest will be forfeiting their matches on Sunday due to not fielding roster in time, giving a bye to Curse Academy and advancing them to the semifinal round.
Though untested, Team Coast is packed with talent. Featuring Daydreamin and WizFujiiN from the original Coast alongside Mash (previously DontMashMe), Rhux, and Goldenglue. These challenger superstars have each proven their talent individually, particuarly Goldenglue, who was Scarra’s first replacement on Team Dignitas. Though Coast has lost its two main showrunners - Shiphtur and ZionSpartan made the jump to Dignitas - as long as they have even the most basic level of synergy they should be able to blow the challenger series out of the water.
Not to be counted out, Team Green Forest also has immense talent comprised of a squad of new faces to the scene. In their first game of the round of 10, their AD Carry Don went 5/0/12 on Lucian while their jungler EREnko dominated on Kha’Zix. They’re definitely a team to watch out for, but they’re going to have shake the newcomer jitters for this game to take down the titans of Coast.
Team Coast vs. Team Green Forest
When:Saturday, June 7th at 4:00 PM PST (Directly after LCS) How they got here: Team Coast was relegated from LCS after their defeat at the hands of CompLexity, earning them a bye into the Round of 8. Team Green Forest dominated the opening matches in the NA CS, going 2-0 and dominating No Dice Gaming. What to expect: With both teams fielding brand new rosters in this split, it’ll be a match of who has meshed together as a team better. A team can have all the skill and mechanics in the world, but it won’t mean anything if they don’t cooperate and communicate! Although Team Green Forest has a relatively new roster, they’ve been competing in Go4LoL and have been together since early April. They’ve been tempered by their time in the first rounds and have proven they work together, whereas the new Team Coast has been untested so far in any major or minor competitions.
