Why LoL???

I know im probably gonna get a lot hate but idc. Also i cant find anything out there answering this question, so sry if youve seen this a million times already. I looked but i cant find anything.

If you dont want to read the big ass paragraph bellow, i cant take lol seriosly bc of a pay to win system and no voice comms, and i dont think that they have a valid excuse.

Imo, if DotA was CSGO, LoL would be CoD

So im a big csgo fan, and i like to watch other esports 2 (smash bros, dota, ow, almost all the big ones), and i consider myself a pretty open guy when it comes to esports. For instance, i like Halo esports a lot even though it would be normally looked down bc you have to use controllers. However, i cannot take lol esports seriously at all. Heros are very expensive (most i looked at are more then $5) and there are no voice comms. In every esport i tried, communication is pretty much required to get out of the shit ranks, and i dont see how laners and junglers can effectively communicate ganks and how adc's and supports can work 2gether well. I know that those arnt problems in pro matches, but they r in solo q.

The game really has no excuse to be super pay to win and to have no voice comms. Just because a game is free doesnt make it ok to be pay to win. CSGO and DotA 100% free apart from cosmetics. LoL still could make a ton of money by just selling skins. There are a bunch of cool skins that people would definitely be willing to buy. For me personally, i didnt spend a dime on lol once i realized how expensive the game was. I then tried dota, and i bought $12 worth of stuff from the market after 2 games.

Imo, a competitive esport is REQUIRED to have voice comms. I am in the top 30% of csgo players, and i use the radar (mini map) maybe 1 or 2 seconds in a 1:55 round, and most rounds i never use it. This is because information is expected to be called out over voice comms. The only time i use my radar is when my teammates are being rushed. I just quickly look at my radar to see if the bomb is with the rushing terrorists (because if the bomb isnt with them then it might be a fake). I just cant see how you can function as a team when all your info comes from the minimap and you cant do strats with your team. I believe that you should spend your time animation reading and looking for wards rather than stalking your teammates. Every other team esport that i can think of has voice comms, even crap games like CoD. Even casual games have voice comms, battlefront as an example

I cant see why yall put up with this bullshit when you can just play DotA or Starcraft. I know that you guys love LoL, but I just cant see how you can put up with this.

Sorry for being a dick. Thanks for responding.

League of Legends is completely Free to Play. You can buy every champion in the game using the in-game currency, which you have to grind for.

There is the RP alternative, that obviously unlocks the champions much faster - using real life currency - but you can definitely come by by just playing the game and getting the Blue Essence that is used to mostly buying champions.

The rate at which you get Blue Essence is not bad either. Besides it takes a lot of games to actually gather the experience needed to play a champion at a decent level, so you will have enough Blue Essence to buy your next champion in no time.

At the end of the day League is a game that requires a lot of game practice and experience and therefore a LOT of grinding games.

PS: There is no Pay to Win in any shape or form in LoL

I get what you’re saying but your opionion id super subjective. There are tons of people who have tried the different games and they landed on liking league the most. It’s like all the battle royal games coming out right now. Some people will stick with pubg, some will be on fort nite, etc.

As for voice comms, thousands of people make rank work without them daily and win games and climb to the higher elos. So it isn’t impossible. It depends on playing to get better, learning the strategies of the game and doing your best to work as a team.

Riot also did a poll and more people didn’t want voice comms over the amount of people that wanted it. If you want that information just ask riot support.
